Look into buying a used Panasonic GH4. I think they go for around your budget

It's not a DSLR but a p900 is great because when you're not shooting video you can watch your neighbors. I mean.. Watch OUT for your neighbors. Yes.

But in all seriousness, There are a lot of cameras out there man, Some are even budget. You should also consider looking for second hand as that can cut the price drastically on a really nice camera.
