Is GoDaddy the best? I know it's the most popular..

Are there sites that have domains for cheaper than the average on godaddy?

Godaddy is awesome, they always have some promotions for newbies/existing users.
Also Namecheap is very good too and its cheap !

Partly due to recommendations in this forum, I have shifted using Namecheap (I used to be at GoDaddy). GoDaddy does run promotions occasionally, so as you might have noticed also in this forum, if you notice a promotion at the right moment, you might save a lot (at least for the first year) by purchasing a domain from GoDaddy. What I have seen, NameCheap has a bit less promotions, but their pricing tends to be overall more economical than with GoDaddy, especially if you are looking for something else than .com -domains.

One other thing I like better with NameCheap, is that their control panel for the domains is far more simple, from GoDaddy I get the feeling of them using too much graphics and fancy effects and stuff.

Where do you host your domains, or do you have any provider yet?

I don't know about the service they provide but as far as I can remember GoDaddy supported SOPA and PIPA acts and got attacked by Anonymous. That name only reminds me this incident now. Other than that, I agree with dkh1978 on the subject of Namecheap.

I second what jumaru has said

Where a domain is registered is irrelevant.. it's only the price &or hidden costs what matter.

A lot of places advertise cheap promo codes but have ridiculous renewal prices... Godaddy standard prices without a code are cheap enough.

On the recent outage with Godaddy I had domains with them hosted elsewhere which was fine, it was only the domains i had hosted with Godaddy which was effected.

I use Godaddy because of the constant .com/.co.uk sale & many promo codes which pop up, i also use a few other places when promo codes pop up and either keep them where they are or intend to transfer them to godaddy.

No matter where you register your domain you own it, they are just a middle man.

Companies i have used are..

Godaddy.com, Name.com, 123-reg.co.uk, Namecheap & some other popular one i forget the name of..

I think name.com prices are a little high
