Here's what I've found so far, but each has its own issues.

  • Compete = Used to be pretty good, but as of now, they blocked data for smaller sites, making it worthless. At $200 a month, very pricey. This is by far the best in my experience, and cannot find decent substitute.
  • Alexa = You cant tell how much traffic they really have, but the "Clickstream" tab is useful in some cases in determining sources on larger traffic sites.
  • Semrush = Only good for ranking related traffic, but way of anyways.
  • Google trends = Closed down
  • Quantcast = Worse than Compete data, and again, no data for smaller sites.

did google trends used to do something I don't know about, because they certainly haven't closed down.

Yes, they used to have Google Trends for Websites. Guess its just another data point that Google prefers to hoard at the end of the day ;)
