Best CMS??

I have tried using joomla in the past, and i have yet too find a reason to use it over Wordpress. Wordpress is the easiest and quickest to set up.

Try out surrealCMS.com, they use CSS classes to insert the "CMS" portion on any site, very simple to use... an alternative is cushycms.com (i like surreal better tho)

would be nice if it was a free designers version... any links?

I've said it before but it appear the thread has been deleted so i'll state what i said last time.

Wordpress and Joomla/Drupal are in completely different leagues. They're all "Content Management Systems" in the actual sense of the word, but they both have completely different uses in my opinion, and i suspect, the opinion of any Joomla or Drupal user.

Wordpress is a CMS as a Blog. Using plugins and various modifications it can be used to act like a very basic cms without the capability of management that a fully-fledged non-blog cms can offer.

Joomla and Drupal out of the box are fully featured CMS, that can handle masses of pages within a proper site structure without any mods. If you wanted to, it can also act like a weak blog.

That's the difference. Joomla and Drupal are proper all singing all dancing CMS straight out of the box and Wordpress is a Blog.

if you're doing blogs go for wordpress.

if you want a site with flexible modules positions, go with joomla.

wordpress of course, you can even use it for autoblogging, it rocks!!!

The 'best' CMS would depend on your definition of a Content Management System and its intended use.

1. Wordpress - Best for blogging.
2. Drupal - Easy to set up FULL CMS with SEO friendly urls.
3. e107 - Excellent FULL CMS especially suitable if your site needs well managed forums.
4. Joomla - FULL CMS.

I totally second this. Thus I really havent used drupal.

But Joomla is my platform of choice.!!!!!!!!
started off using E107

This is one question, like "what is the best car."

The short version is "It depends"

The slightly longer version is that the only person who can answer this is someone who understands your problem, and *all* the tools.

I have used quite a few CMS systems in my time, and they all have strengths and weaknesses. Take the big 3 (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal). There are many cases where I recommend them. In other use cases, I might recommend using something else.

Still yet, if you have someone who has used say WP extensively, you might recommend a WP solution that is good enough, when a Joomla solution might be better. Given that they already know WP, they will get more out of it than learning Joomla.

Same thing with learning. It depends on the user. Some users are better off running WP. Others have requirements that might grow, and a plan for this, so really are better off taking the time, and making the effort to learn something like Drupal. They will start off slower, but eventually will have better skills and a better solution.

In short, asking for the best CMS without knowing the exact problems and existing skills and infrastructure of the customer, is fine as an academic exercise, but really not going to give you a useful answer.

Um,, I have heard of expressionengine as good CMS. But you plan to blog, WP does too much good !

I have been a Joomla fanatic since I found out I could use it as a blog.

My wordpress sites are indexed pretty quickly. However, I have found that my joomla sites stick in the top forever.

Once you know how to tweek joomla url's, you are good to go.

If your idea is to set up quick websites then leave them then wordpress is good.

however, if you are planning on getting authority sites, then nothing beats joomla. Not even drupal.

The next joomla release will be even more powerful and easier to use.
