Best cloud storage around 10 TB Needed

Hi guys anyone has idea which is best cloud storage for 10 tb for a high profile client

That is so random - my sister asked me this exact same question today on behalf of her friend.

So, I’m interested to see peoples replies as well.

If you need something for long term mega .nz is good and not that expensive

I know but for a high profile client we cant afford to get such service,.edu emails might block at anytime and if we lose access all will go in vain that too with high profile client it will sure backfire ,it always worth to use a paid service where we have control of things they cant simple lock down us

If your "high profile" client is "high profile" Get them to buy a NAS and rent some Rackspace....

Another option would be to rent a server from OVH or Hetzner - you can get storage servers for a relatively cheap price - and then install Linux and Owncloud (A free, opensource cloud cloud storage platform).

With hetzner in particular, you can also get very cheap local backup space as well, so if you need something really robust, you can have it set up with owncloud data storage and then cold backup of the data as well.

For comparison, I think Google drive is around 80GBP per month? Dropbox business is similar I believe - you would need the advance plan which is 3 user minimum and at least £15/user/month.

Livedrive business standard package comes with 10TB and is £100GBP per month.

Hetzner have 10TB storage boxes for 47 euros, that might be worth exploring.

4 x 10 TB drives - so you can set up a decent RAID array to redundancy.
That's 76 Euros per month - very good pricing for that amount of storage space.
I think there are cheaper smaller servers as well.
Install owncloud on here and you're good to go.

Depending on how critical the data is you could also connect a storage box to that, or run an additional server in parallel and configure rsync or similar to run daily backups between the two locations.

Instead of paying monthly storage just buy a 10 or 12 TB HDD, it's cheaper.

Not a bad idea in theory. However, there are a few caveats -

First of all, if you buy your own device you are responsible for data safety and we all know that consumer-grade hard drives, and NAS storage devices are not the most robust things in the world.

I would say if you go that route then you want to have an internal hard drive for data storage and then a NAS device (With RAID) for backup and even then you really want some form of remote backup. It gets a little tricky, and expensive doing it yourself like this.

I have also seen before a power surge that blew out internal storage, NAS backup and external USB drive backup all at once.

Second; you don't have nearly as much functionality with local storage as you do with cloud based storage - for example cloud sharing, app access, user control, sharing etc. Although some NAS providers offer these features they are fairly primitive compared to what the cloud providers are offering.

The business equivalent would be an enterprise server running something like owncloud, local backup to a NAS device or similar and then offsite backup to the cloud using something like Backup Assist or Veeam replication suite.

Trust 10TB in a cloud is a risk but there are clouds with lifetime accounts like pcloud, buy 5 accounts of 2TB if they allow more than 1 account per ip.
