You can use following tools as well to build mix kind of link building..

Google really like mix link building...\

a - Angela Paul PR3+ forum backlinks - SENuke (PR 4-9 only)
b - Web 2.0 (SENuke and manual as well, PM me for list of web 2.0)
c - Bookmarking (Bookmarking demon)
d - Blog commenting (It's better to do Manual, but you can use some tools like scapebox to get any link fast index)

^^ To make test better put some xrumer links in to second tier Links to index them quickly

I'm using Linklicious to index Xrumer and scrapbox links and its work great for me..

Answer D: Why manual?
I'd understand if you were commemting on high PR blogs but if not why manual (other than higher acceptance rate)?
 
I would also say - that you need also some articles in directories, some blogposts, some bought links and yes, as the previous poster said - use these type of stuff as an addition to your balanced link portfolio....
 
You shouldn't use these types of links to your main site, ever. They only work on non-competitive keywords. Any keyword that actually has competition will give you the result that you noticed. Google's algo knows about developed keywords and they know when spammers are spamming those keywords with forums and blog comments.

You should be blasting your web2.0, article directories, etc. links and not your main site...

Obviously there are exceptions to this rule, but 90% of the time using xrumer, scrapebox, etc. on your money site will get you slapped for a good length. It's just safer to blast some web2.0 articles or something.

I mix some Social Bookmarking with Forum posting/ Profiles and had Great success.
 
Profile backlinks is good for micro-niche sites,and article directories and social bookmark.
 
As a best backlink source I say Article Marketing is quite useful. You can made a few hundreds of backlinks using it at a time.
 
id say just experiment with different types. i'd think all of the above would work best!
 
For money site:
- High PR Profiles (quality, not quantity)
- High PR Blog Comments (same as above, quality!)
- Web 2.0 Props (Def. recommended)
- Social Bookmarks (Personally, i think they're just good for indexing your site quick)
- AMR Blasts to high PR (2+) Directories

Then wait a few days and then you take all the Links from the above and blast them to hell with Scrapebox, xRumer over and over and over, you ping them and submit some RSS Feeds aswell.

Do this once or twice and then move onto new endeavours..
 
also articles.. you can get more bang for your buck..
 
The best is to go with blog commenting and doing them manually over blogs which are really quality ones.

I always rank a website using this strategy only and i haven't found gradual drop down of my sites...

Angela Links + Web 2.0 Properties is ALL I Use and I've been able to get to first page with most of my niche websites.
 
The best way to do it would be to get backlinks from all these sources. Diversity helps and looks more natural. Just my opinion.
