Best Backlingking SEO Strategy - SEO experts PLZ help

Hey Guys,
I am starting a new project of developing an extensive review site on my niche. However, I have 2 ways of tackling this:
METHOD #1:
Write article based on my keywords and submit them to ezine which means the articles will get ranked quickly but the visitor path is longer ie. Article ->Site->Landing Page. I am also at the mercy of editors that have to approve the articles and have the visitors click through my article resource box to get to my site.

METHOD #2:
Write articles based on keywords directly on my website and use ezine articles for backlinks only not necessarily for traffic. This may take longer to rank my articles but there will be a large amount of unique content on my site, the visitor will have a shorter path to the LP straight from my site and will allow me to be more flexible with the content (ie add banners, formatting, etc.)

Please advise which of these would get my keywords ranked higher and be more beneficial in the long run. My aim is to get my main domain name high in the search rankings so that each article I add to the domain is ranked highest quickly.

Method 1 means you have a 1000 backlink head start but users have to click twice to get to your money page, so let's say that takes clicks down 50%. However, some business models rely entirely on article placement. Take Angela's backlink site for example. Her money page is far too weak to rank. She does it all by being number 1/2 for backlinks with her goarticles article. This method can definitely work

Method 2, I would not advise. If you want backlinks alone, ezine articles is not the best way to go. I don't know what your niche is but the effort required to get ezine backlinks in sufficient numbers is off the scale.

I advise method 1, promoting your article with comment spam. Supplement this with a strong backlink program on your main site. Use linkwheels, web 2.0 satellites and comment spam.

I agree with Micallef, that you go with option 1. However, and this is a bit greyer, you could then spin the articles and use them on other blogs to point additional links at your site - there by getting the same outcome as you wanted from option 2.

Method two would proably be best to start off with then perhaps move to method one a little bit at a time
