They are, but more and more they are making contact by phone as part of their application process. I would imagine to ensure that new affiliates aren't going to spam their networks. Just be sure that you have a couple strategies that you use and a website that you can refer to. That should be enough to get you through to approval. It's always good to have a few networks that you work with so that you're not completely invested in just one alone if that makes sense.
