Best 2015 method to find relevant link building opportunities?

I have a question. What's the best way to find quality and relevant websites to link build?

For example, I have a dog information website. I have been typing into google "dog blogs, dog directories, dog forums, dog sites, etc"

What's the best way to find links and what kind of tools do you use if any?

If you are looking for high quality and relevant links you want to get links from the websites that are already ranking for your keyword.

The best way I do this is to search the big 3 search engines - G, Bing, & Yahoo.

Simply type in your keyword and look through the first 50 - 100 results served up.

Quickly look through each page for opportunities to build a link.
There may be a place to post comments or it may be a forum ranking for that particular keyword.
They may also accept guest posts.
If you can build a link, great. If not, move on.

Do this for each of your keywords and for the 3 search engines.

This can take some time, but is well worth it. A link or a vote of confidence from a ranking website is so much more valuable to you than any other link.

There may be tools for scraping the serps to give you a list of the top ranking websites for a keyword.

But i feel it still takes you to manually look through each site to find linking opportunities.

What keywords are trying to rank for?
Just typing dog blogs, dog directories is not going to provide anything specific enough for your needs.

I forgot to mention, I'm looking for WHITEHAT only. I'm trying to stay away from paid guest posts or PBN interlinks, and spammy links
