Being a project management guru

So I recently came across the online software called B.asecamp and it basically helps businesses manage projects in a cloud based and intuitively easy manner.

This got me thinking, many companies are probably using outdated software such as MS Projects to control everything, so their missing out on the awesomeness of all the new web based project management applications which are way better than anything they've ever thought was possible.

So what if I label myself as some kind of Project management expert and then help implement software like B.asecamp into their business at a decent fee.

The only problem I've realized so far is that once they know I'm all about B.asecamp theres gonna be nothing stopping them from going to the website themseeoplves and having one of their internal IT guys setting it up for them instead.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think.

They don't seem to have a re-seller option
or something in that nature. It seems like a good
idea, I'd have to agree on companies and businesses
using outdated management systems, when they
could be using top of the line "modern" systems.

Maybe contact B.camp and ask if they can
arrange a re seller platform for individual use?
I wonder if they could work something out!

Seems interesting as I personally hate MS Project, however despite its flaws and crappy interface, it does support offline usage which this doesn't seem to and I'm not sure if this supports exporting data for offline viewing for future reference.

As for the dilemma you pointed out, that would indeed be a problem but maybe you could sign up as an affiliate and earn commission off the sign up and have some sort of training package as even if they were to use their IT guys for the routinely support, they would probably be willing to use your package to train their guys so it's still some ca$h flowing your way.

Using it at work. I dont think you will get your foot into the door. small companies will use what they have, big companies won't work with you without references from big clients.If they have a dedicated IT guy, chances are if you knock on their door they will just google it,use google docs etc.. But then again dont know which country you are in etc...

If you ever need to partner with a software solution company, let me know. We are experienced in B2B products. I'm sure you can make even more with your own software package than using a 3rd party one.

I'm a full time project manager and there are loads of products out there. Most of them are trash. Some does help you with workpackage handling and such, but honestly i find the most efficient way to handle projects in my company (everyone is IT scared) is by handling workpackages myself in excel and mail people their defined workpackages. Also for templates i use project in a box (free for one user) to grab various templates for business cases, risk management, issuehandling and the likes.

Basecamp is supposed to be very user friendly, kinda like how facebook is pretty easy to use even for most people's grandparents Thats why I'm interested in this. I am actually making a presentation to a big construction firm in a few days and will let you guys know what they think. Friend of mine that got me the presentation mentioned it to them and they said they already use dropbox. So obviously they are not that scared of using websites. Hopefully I can land some kind of deal with them to help setup the system and show all the noobies how to use it.

Yeah I checked your meeting thread out, pretty legit, repped you too.

I still need to write a lot about the speaking part but since I was on limited time (at work) I couldn't go into that without halfassing it. Will come in a later revision.

Went to the meeting last week. The guys seemed pretty interested and didn't have any real objections. Will be finding out soon whether I'm getting the job or not.
