After tons of reading, reading, saving, and more reading; I'm going to begin creating tons of content starting today.

Too much resourcing is a waste of time without action, so today I'm implementing my action plan into my life.
It's a fairly simple business model now that I will be expanding upon in the future.
Here I'm going to share the outline of my action plan. Any comments, compliments, inspiration, criticism, or concerns would all be appreciated, I'm really just looking for input!

Here it is:


  • Dedicate a time-frame to work everyday.
  • I'm looking to write at least 10 articles a day at Yahoo! Voices.
  • Build a sample portfolio ---> Then create gigs for articles and content creation.


Then here are my back-burner goals, these I will do optionally and leisurely.



  • Building a lens or 2 a week.
  • Submitting youtube videos to gain partnership ---> Monetize ads with my own videos.
  • Write an e-book.



I'm pretty stoked about this action plan, and I'm looking to start on a path to success. With my current employment and income, I make my bills. That's it. Minimum wage sucks.

So I look at it as the perfect job to keep the bills paid, keep the harsh reality of minimum wage work close(Keep your enemies close), and drive me to get an online portfolio established!

Goodluck. The only problem you will be having is finding the right clients. Build yourself a service site to show your clients that you really are a professional.
 
Yes, it's better to build your portfolio on your own sites and you will gain more sales and ads earnings. Your clients can still judge your potential.
 
I remember when I first started my content writing career.

These are the advice I give you:

* Work with quality in mind, not price!

Good Costumers aren't shocked to pay more if the work is professionally done. Don't spin and don't make mistakes. You must always deliver. If you do this you can charge more. Philippines' workers and India's sweatshops take the price, you take the quality.

* Treat your costumers

Giving special offers and freebies to clients go a long way. I usually spoil mine with some fiverr gigs from times to times.

* Adjust your pricing

This is something you have to do. Establish your per-word price. It's a good idea to establish a word price for technical writing, another word price for content writing and so on.

* Persistence is key

But you're on BHW so you must know this by now.

I beg your pardon but I don't think ALL writers FROM the PHILIPPINES are what you say they are. I am from the Philippines and I have dealt with some clients who even thought that I was from the US so please refrain from discriminating writers from the Philippines. There are quite a few out there.

One advise I'd give you is look out for big spenders on odesk. Offer them a free, let's say 400 words article on a topic of their choice. Be specific about questions you have / what kind of writing they expect from you to avoid any mistakes from your side.

Obviously you'll get raped by some providers or at leasts there's a possibility for it, but then again, you can find a bigger client who possibly can keep you busy / employ you fulltime / agree on a fixed amount per week. Going through forums only is a little tricky in my opinion, try to approach bulk clients to get your business less volatile in longterm.
 
Wow! Sounds like a really good plan. Just keep your content updated and fresh periodically. Also, don't forget to use the social media to help promote your content. :)
 
I got nothing against Philippines' writers, but I happened to see a lot of them writing almost for free before I posted.

I would actually recommend Helium for building up your portfolio! They put out certain assignments and let 1-5 writers write content for that assignment. If you're voted the best of them, you receive some compensation (not much but some). Plus, you can link directly to where you articles are posted on Helium in your portfolio which makes it look more legit.

Don't forget to do grammar and spell-check...;)

Unfortunate place to have a typo, but better on here than on your own articles! I would just say good luck to you, you have an action plan and that really makes all the difference because if you are working to a plan you will be better able to track your own progress. You've got motivation, which is also important. I would agree with those who say that you should get your own site up, perhaps pay someone to do it for you. By doing that you'll gain interest from people who are serious about hiring a writer to create the right kind of content.
 
Im looking for a writer to write an ebook for me on Nutrition . Is $400-$500 resasonable for this request?
