Beginner writing courses

Hey guys,

not sure whether it's the right section to post this on, but the questions as the title suggests.

Please suggest courses on writing for beginners. Can be paid, can be free, doesn't matter really.

I'm into creating affiliates website and due to budget restraints, I have to create content myself. However, I English is not my native language, nor am I even remotely good at writing articles.

So something to learn from about grammar and style and how to write engaging content in general would go a long way, I think.

Tips for beginner writer are also super appreciated :)

I wouldn't recommend buying any course for writing to be honest, there are tons of great resources for free that you can use. There is a great YouTube channel, I'll find it and link It back here

Well, I'm not very good at picking what's good content and what's not, since I don't have much knowledge in the field. Suggestions will be appreciated ! :)

Ya it is quite confusing what is a good content and what is not.

I have a writer who charges me $1 per 100 words and I think he writes just wonderful and engaging content, but I don't know why people reading those does not think so (due to high bounce rate).

few People reads for 15+ minutes and clicks on other pages too but few people just land and flies away 5 seconds.

So I am quite confused what a good content is and ofcourse How can I write them myself.

Well not all of your visitors are from search engines so, maybe they came accidentally on your site. :)
 
The best way to learn is to read what's already on other affiliate sites (that are ranking well and getting traffic). Try and copy the style and structure of articles. Use a spell-checking tool (grammarly, MS word etc) to spot errors before you publish.

Learn by doing.

Thanks man, will have a look into it.

I do understand that most of the knowledge comes with practice. Just wanted to have a good grasp of theory so I wouldn't set myself for failure right of the bat.
 
I don't think the amount of time and money spent on courses will be smaller than the fee of some medium-priced copywriter. Though, I would still recommend learning English since it's 2018... you know :) Find some free grammar tutorial and practice yourself. All courses are for lazybones.
 
I would recommend MediaBistro for a copywriting course. They have discounts from time to time too. I think I got my copywriting class for like $20.
 
You need to know how to sell.
If you are selling a course for writing, you are in the money making business. I have met people that do copywriting for products and charge a lot for a very well organized landing page.
If you make a course that sells itself, its a loophole. But you are savvy, you are the expert. You don't need from us.
What you only need from us as a forum is giving you this:
1.- Make a killer copywriting from your copywriting course.
2.- Make a very good landing page using lead pages or clickfunnels.
3.- Pay PPC and Display ads, but hire a designer or use canva.com for your ads.


You can do it, but you need to dedicate time, sweat and soul.
 
I bought some basic digital marketing courses on Udemy :oops:
 
Shani Raja's courses on Udemy are great for begineers. He was a senior editor for Washington Post and Bloomberg. Go in this order -
1. Writing with Flair 2.0
2. Ninja Writing. (advance)
3. Editing Mastery.

You can also find it on torrents if you search enough.

Writing tip - when you write, keep writing. Do not stop and go back to edit. Write everything like a crazy arsonist until you are done. And when you are finished, take some break, come back a while later and edit like a supreme court judge.

I am not a huge guy for SEO but Brian Dean and Neil Patel are good to learn from on how to write SEO articles. Good luck.

I started with the books, but now I’m also looking for the good course to complete or possibly a coach, so thanks for bringing up this topic. And maybe guys based on your experienced what I should pay attention to when I choose a course or a trainer?
