Beginner Question about Blogging

Hi Guys,
I am new in BHW.
And i have super limited skill when it comes to building a website from scratch, but i am willing to learn.
I want to start my own travel blog (kinda promoting tourist destinations in my country).
My aim is to eventually earn some money from it, from google ad sense or something else.
Any tips on how or where to begin? Do you think using Wix is the easiest way to start building my blog?

Easiest? Maybe. Depends on your skill level, its certainly quick to start with. I’d wager learning WordPress and building a blog there would be more valuable for you.

Read up on some SEO threads in the forum, dont get stuck in the SEO lane either, use other platforms to promote your content as well. People underestimate the power of social media. TikTok especially these days.

Also dont just chase traffic or clicks for adsense purposes, you wont earn much as a beginner anyways, learn sales and sell your promotion of local businesses on your travel blog. Go there and record social media content as well. Think marketing and sales in general, not just SEO.
 
Personally I will go with wordpress, .com, and decent hosting for starter site.

Lots of videos on Youtube will help setting up a professional travel blog.

Choosing a high performance wordpress theme will help.

Something like generatepress, astra, neve, kadence, spectra one.

The most important part will be structuring your website with the right seo optimized content.

So, you need to be skilled in SEO.
 
Thanks for getting back to me! I'm really keen on learning SEO since it's crucial for my career. Right now, I'm hunting for an online SEO course that fits my budget.
I've tried watching some SEO guides on YouTube, but I think the best way to learn is by actually practicing it myself.

I haven't used wix so I can't speak on that, but like most people would recommend, wordpress should be your go to, in the future you'd be glad you did. In my early days I went with Blogger, but that affected me badly later on.

Since you are new, I'll highly recommend Instagram and Pinterest, travel content do pretty well over on these two platforms. On Pinterest, you won't get results immediately but overtime, your pins would kick off. I'm presently testing two sites on the platform and results are trickling in but slowly. Intend introducing travel as well.

You're not in the wrong, maybe the question should have been asked in the Blogging section instead of the lounge.
 
Wordpress n Wix both are great!,
Consider working for your users who gain the good knowledge from your blog as currently traffic is not just limited to search but they come from Instagram , TikTok, FB , Pinterest as well , so you can easily earn money if you are very good with the traffic
 
As suggested by others, Wordpress may be the best option for you. It's easy and has a lot of plugins that can assist you (kind of add-ons to make the building easier).

Since you are new to web development, look at it this way. Do you realistically think you can build a blog that's good enough in the eyes of Google to outrank blogs built by veterans?

One thing that makes people get frustrated and dump blogs within one year is when they don't see results.

Consider all these and make a firm decision.

To be honest, I'm unsure about creating content on TikTok. I want my audience to be from the UK and US, but I'm in Southeast Asia. From what I've heard, TikTok content might only be shown to local audiences depending on my location. Can you clarify if that's correct?
 
1. Just start with WordPress (it is 1 million times better and also easy to learn)

2. Learn how "blogging with profits" works from EXPERTS because "blogging with profits" is different from "blogging for fun/without profits"

3. Build a newsletter on your blog

4. Write and post quality and valuable contents

5. Don't wait for SEO. Rather, learn how to run paid adverts from EXPERTS

and do your travel related keyword research
next

Visit a place and write about it. Also, make videos and post on YouTube. See the response, take feedback from others and go from there. Do not expect any earning in first year .

I started blogging with WordPress, it's great.
 
Had just launched my first blogspot ever. had minor difficulties when it comes to editing.
Watched some YT Vids on how to design it properly LOL.
Quite surprising that they put so much limitation for the free version of WP. :oops::oops:
 
Wix is bad for blogging. Try WordPress.

Learn some SEO and content writing about traveling. You can use adsense and also you can tie up with any local travel agency to monetize your posts.
