The other day, I saw a thread where someone was asking whether some course is worth 3000 bucks. With 3 grand, you can make a site with 75-100,000 words of high quality content so I can't imagine wasting that on some course. So, I've complied a step by step course using FREE YouTube videos for anyone looking to get started.
Most gurus just rehash existing information and repackage it as a course. They don't have any secrets and most of the stuff in their course is easily available all over the internet.
There are 2 things that this free course will not do for you that a paid course might:
1. Make you accountable.
2. Offer support and answer any specific questions you might have.
Luckily, you can use this forum for both these things. If you want to feel accountable, make a journey thread and stick to it. You can also hire someone on Fiverr to keep you accountable with daily reminders and motivational crap.
If you have any questions, there are hundreds of people here who will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
If you still feel that you need to pay for something to assure your commitment, instead of paying me for this course, please donate whatever amount you like to a charity of your choice.
Some people may disagree with some of the methods in this course. Everybody is free to have their own opinion. Nobody agrees a 100% with everything any course says. None of these videos have been created by me. If you have a problem with any of the information, feel free to comment on the original video and take it up with the creator. I believe these videos are good enough for someone looking to get started.
Before you start, you should plan and aim for at least 100 high quality articles. This doesn't mean that sites with less than 100 articles can't be successful but I believe that your chances of success are higher with 100+. I may be totally wrong about this, but this is what I believe. If you're just looking to make a couple of hundred bucks, you can probably get away with 20-30 articles. Again, this is what I believe and I may be totally wrong.

Keyword research
Keyword tools are total crap. They do not work! The difficulty scores are made up and don't reflect the real difficulty of a keyword. If it was reliable, anyone with $7 could signup for AHREFS, find 100 keywords with 0 difficulty and huge volumes and become a millionaire.
If you want to outsource this process, find a VA to follow these instructions. Do NOT buy "easy" keywords for 5 bucks and expect miracles. THE SERP HAS TO BE MANUALLY CHECKED. Nobody is going to do that for 100 keywords for 5 bucks.
Choosing a domain

Doesn't really matter. Buy a cheap one on Fiverr or just use a text logo. Nobody cares.

This is a tutorial to set up Wordpress on your own free VPS on Google Cloud. Don't belive any recommendations you see on review articles. They are only interested in affiliate commissions. If you find this too technical, hire someone on Fiverr to do this for you for 7 bucks. There are similar methods available for AWS, Azure and any other cloud provider that offers free credits.

@Festinger has uploaded hundreds of premium themes for free. Choose whichever one you like. GeneratePress and Astra are great free options if you're not sure.

I personally don't use any SEO plugins. Most people use Yoast or Rankmath.

Don't overthink this. Google is pretty smart. They understand user intent.

Aim for 100 articles. It's not that sites with less than 100 articles don't make money. But on average, you need to have around 40-50,000 page-views to make $1000. This is a conservative estimate. There are probably sites who can make $1000 with 1 pageview, but that's not true for most sites. Revenue also varies during events like Black Friday, Christmas etc.
Get the articles written or write them yourself. The marketplace has some great services. Ask for samples and see what you like. If you can't get yourself to read through the whole article, it probably won't work for your audience either.

Links
Everyone has their own opinion on links. Some people tell you not to build links at all. Some people tell you to build links from day 1. It all depends on what you want to believe.
If you're a beginner, I don't recommend buying links until you've completed all the steps above including driving traffic from Pinterest and YouTube. If you've followed the keyword research method from the videos above, you should be on page 1 for a few keywords without any links. You'll also be able to get a few thousand visits a month from YouTube and Pinterest.
Since almost every aspect of link building is heavily debated, I'm not including any videos or instructions about link building. It's up to you. Getting this wrong can kill your site and all your work so be careful.
