Selling your traffic for ad money, especially adfly, is for chumps. If you haven't realized there's very little money (for most) in that over the past 4 years you should probably look into getting a job. Not even trying to be a dick, just dealing a harsh truth I feel you need to hear.
Adf ly is not even a consideration for me, it was simply a very early method that I implemented on a site that really doesn't have many options for monetization.
As for your comment about getting a job, did you even read through the thread? I already work and have an income. I am fortunate enough to be in a position that I don't need to work 60-80 hours a week and I have a decent income. The IM is diversifying from my offline work because the industry is being killed by online competition which I cannot even begin to compete with. I figure I have about 2 years maximum left before my current income takes a serious hit.
Your best bet is to never give up what works for you at the moment. I have done this before lots of times, looking for alternatives that not necessarily would bring me more profits but would take the burden of working 18 hours a day straight which meant for me no life at all, which is worse than anything I can imagine. This is why most experienced business men talk about working smart.
Everything comes with a risk, but since your offline business is earning you money, dedicate to that business. First things come first. You must have an income source. Online business just like offline promises nothing. So basically giving up offline for you would be a wrong move at the moment. Giving up something for nothing, in case you do not succeed online. The key is learning and investing; time and money. With all respect, your overall online work is almost non existent. Setting up a niche site, and placing some banners, a little bit of seo; along with a blogger blog in 3 years is not much my friend. You must dedicate yourself to your business you know that. Competition is healthy, but the truth is these days you do need to have a solid capital to compete with the big guys, otherwise you can make money but nothing close to even having enough to make ends meet.
Stick with what works is the key, even its not going so well for you it is something. Use the spare time to learn, and the spare money to invest. My situation is similar to yours, starting back from square one. Yes, I do not give up. But there is still a slight difference between our situations, I've been constantly learning, working and building up relationships, have been dedicated, rarely took a day off. I am absolutely sure than some time soon I will be back on track, patience is also a key element in succeeding. Asking if you should quit is not a good approach. You should never quit, just look at your past experience and try to understand why you've only earned 36 pounds in 3 years. The answers will come for sure.
Good luck buddy!
This isn't all I have done in three years, it's a learning curve and many of my projects have failed or not even got off the ground due to lack of understanding and the learning process.
I'm not asking if I should quit, I will NEVER quit. One thing I am most certainly not is a quitter. I just needed a little direction because I seem to have stagnated and I need to be moving forward.
