There are far more reasons that Whitehat SEO is better than Blackhat SEO. Simply put, Whitehat SEO allows your site to be successful in the long term while Blackhat SEO is only short term stuff. Not to mentionthat Blackhat SEO tactics can get your site totally removed from Google.

These days I've noticed a trend of people focusing on building their pagerank, backlinks, and using other shady tactics to make their website look good. What these people don't know is, they're wasting their valuable time! Would you prefer to stick to shady tactics and something that works short term or long term?

    1. Choose a NICHE -- It helps if you research popular keywords in your niche, and choose a domain and title based around that
    2. SEO optimize it.. use Wordpress, and a SEO plugin like SEO Platinum or All in one SEO Plugin.
    3. Create a good design
    4. QUALITY CONTENT
    5. Ads/affiliates

These are the ingredients to a successful site! Using shady SEO tactics will ruin the reputation of your site, and also will not work for the long term. Trust me, you don't want to make any short term sites when you could be making a lot more and constant revenue with a better quality site.

If you create good quality content, people WILL link back to you, you will gain more RSS subscribers, or customers.

BLOG, BLOG, BLOG! Don't be lazy, there is a lot of money to be made through blogging.

I cannot stress how important enough it is to use quality content, and stay away from backlink building, link exchanges, any SEO submitting software, any Bookmark Demon, XRUMER type of product, or anything like that. You WILL be wasting your time.

Fact is, it will take time but if you keep at it your site will grow. ANYONE can do it.

Whatever you do, do not do autoblogs! I startedan autoblog as an experiment and made up to $70/day from Adsense, but now makes $1/day! I didn't touch it ever, Google was main source of traffic. Yes you can create multiple autoblogs, but eventually you will either get banned or your site traffic will die down at some point.

    QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY!

Do not ever think about scamming, fraud, or anything illegal. Don't trust eBooks for your info, most likely the information is covered elsewhere on sites like Sitepoint.com and other forums that have good information.

I agree to a point because I only ever use whitehat techniques on my sites but I do use blackhat tools and that is the difference. I use comment kahuna to find blogs to comment on and I have used proxies to vote for my sites in blog catalogs, Digg, etc. I use cracked versions of camtasia and sendblaster pro and I have a download of circa 200k PLR artcicles where I upload about 12 articles a week - all rewritten and all make sense to the site visitor.

I agree about onsite whitehat techniques but blackhat tools can be valuable if used in moderation.

I agree with that. Blackhat works for a short of time.

If you want the product to be out of production, the fad to be cooled, or the thing you're trying to peddle be obsolete by the time the site ranks, then definitely use whitehat SEO.

If you want to be the one laughing at people who try to make their competition (you!) slower instead of speeding themselves up...carry on like you have been.

    LOL That's suicide SEO!

Good advice. But I wonder so you consider all of the submitter software like Senuke for example are blackhat and people shouldn't use it??

Linkbuilding isn't shady seo. It's recommended in Google guidelines. Buying links is perhaps, but trad wh techniques such as articles and directories aren't

Tell that to the people making thousands of dollars a day ranking in the search engines. I wonder how they got to #1....

    I hear you!!

When i started out a few months ago, i jumped on the "BLACKHAT" band wagon, one of my friends lost a lot of cash and accounts too, this put me off something rotten.

Your absolutely right, just spending your time focusing on the whitehat stuff is the way to go for long term income. Ok so it takes longer, but like you say at least you know your not going to lose your site and/or network accounts just by trying to gain some quick cash.

Id rather do it the "legal" way anyway, my days of "screwing the cpa's" are long gone lol

I consider myself 100% WH, and 100% BH. The reason this is so is, there is no effective difference, as both varieties involve gaming the search engines, both involve making changes (with WH, after each Google algo revision) which often makes long term stability illusory. The only real difference is an institutional one, as white hat means cowing to the corporate giants' dictates as to what is 'acceptable' marketing (that is, what conforms to their big boy profit plan and keeps everybody dependent on them) and what is not.

Every time the 'little' marketers attain success in playing the rules to get their sites highly ranked, those rules tend to get changed again to knock them off page 1. Amazon et al wants to CS others, while hammering the little guy if HE does it. Google thinks you're OK if you are conforming to all their controlling schema for dominating the internet, and maybe paying them money for Adwords. Ebay wants the web to be solely the province of big providers ONLY like them, with everybody else acting like consumers---hence the crushing rules and gouging fee structure tilted against sellers, to limit their ability and ease in making money. Etc., etc.

WH, institutionally, is simply about the new would-be overlords keeping the new serfs in line, by brainwashing the latter to police themselves at their own expense. Since black hatters won't say they are Toby, and buck the SEO feudal system, they are subject to being stigmatized. So I say, go beyond these artificial term debates today! Stop being a Corporate web toadie!

I still believe greyhat is the key to success, just need to find a good balance between both black and white.

Right on i like the term greyhat you could do a little black hat, but constantly keep in mind that it might get you banned and therefor use it in moderation.

ban this fool... this isn't DP, spreading stupid misinformation like this is a waste of everyones time.

These days there is really no such thing as pure 100% whitehat SEO, it is almost always a mixture. Of course certain things are shadier than others, and from a moral/ethical standpoint, one may disagree with certain techniques that are employed here. But let me make this clear, that does NOT mean one of them is more profitable than the other. Nor does it mean that one of them is more long term than the other.

Since when is building backlinks a bad/short term thing?? if you do it right, you're setting yourself up with a very long term business.

Same goes for pretty much all the other things you mentioned. If you use blogger generator and make a couple thousand backlinks directly to your whitehat site, of course you will suffer some consequences. Thats why you have to think outside the box a bit and not just throw shit at a wall.

Basically all I'm saying is these day if you want to succeed in online marketing you will generally have to use a mixture of both white and black hat.

Don't underestimate the power of the dark side!!!

I have 2 sites that sit in the top 3 (1 in #1 and the other at #3) for their respective terms. Serps were obtained through blackhat/greyhat methods and I have had these positions for almost 2 years.

Is it luck? Maybe, but to me it shows that blackhat works and works well if done properly.

the Op as pointed out some of points which are very much true
the satisfaction we talk about while doing a honest work is much more better than a fraudal one.....

though he says blog blog blog dont be lazy
i would just modify it and say enjoy blogging....

what about my black hat skills?
I guess you can also implement your blackhat skills while you do blogging...
I see blogging as a more potential work...

Unfortunately, unless you have something really interesting to offer to your readers, chances are, you'll be hard pressed to find links.

Here's a catch 22 situation: To get your pages ranked in Google so that people can find you, you need backlinks. But to get backlinks, you need to be ranked in Google first so people can find you in the first place.

Get that? You're literally chasing your tail if you say "no linkbuilding". Google knows that its model is flawed. That's why its scared shit that some new search engine will come around with a better model that won't rely on stupid links, but on quality content alone to rank sites.

But for now, links are all that matter. This is flawed and wrong, and if there was a better way, I would have followed it.

Honestly, Google has fucked the internet up big time.

That's what I do...I take no less than 8k exact searches/month, and I still don't make money Whitehat...why? Because I'm not ranked high enough. I hate backlinking.
