A small little fun topic today, as I just finished an important task that I had to do for tomorrow and thought I would never get done in time.

I had instructions to do things in a certain way. It was marketing related, about email segmentation stuff and customer reviews, will not dive into this but it was for a new campaign which must be ready for the end of the week.

What I realised is that often, when you are lazy but you still need to get shit done and want to do it properly, you will actually find the quickest and efficient way to do things fast and well.

I know laziness is generally bad because you can spend so much time doing nothing and not move towards your goals.

But when you really fix yourself and you have something to do... always think about it, I need to do this stuff, how can I do it PROPERLY with the least amount of time and headache as possible?

I attribute also 80% of my success having a side business earning me good income because I absolutely wanted to have the fastest results possible with the least amount of time and headaches.

PROVE THEN AUTOMATE! is something I very often rely on.

automate ads, automate ab testing, automate emails, automate your sales process...

You have to be freaking lazy to implement those things and trust me, it will get you far.

We all want the fastest results in the least amount of time but I see soooooo many people not thinking properly about how you can really optimise your time... I don't say you should do work half done...

But I see so many businesses for example taking an enormous amount of time to create content, but they just waste it because they just post it, never think about recycling content and even a lot less in a multi channel way...

Be lazy but use it in a smart way!

EDIT: Just find an amazing quote about it :D

This is interesting. People only think about hard methods, but there's a lot easier way of doing things.

The next post should be:

Be lucky and become rich faster!

That's right. Donkey work is not always good. While quality work does take time but you can create systems with less friction and more efficiency.

But sometimes our ego comes in between and we want to do it like mad and we suffer.

This works 1% of the time. With some luck and within 0.01% of niches out there.

But that's a great find, considering people did the same 5000 years ago. Look, I found a stone! let's crack some nuts, cause my teeth are collapsing.

I don't believe in luck at all.

I think when it comes to business, it's the process which makes you succeed, never luck.

And it works for every business again if you implement a clear process and a way to spend less time on things which are not bringing you cash.

It's the pareto principle.

20% of what you do results in 80% of the success.

What bill forgot to mention is that he hires smart and lazy people. Dumb and lazy people will dream of a way to do it easily until the deadline passes them by.

Personally, I also live by the saying, “automate or die.”

100% agree

I am not normally in the habit of quoting nazi officers. But Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord said it right...

"I distinguish four types. There are clever, hardworking, stupid, and lazy officers. Usually two characteristics are combined. Some are clever and hardworking; their place is the General Staff. The next ones are stupid and lazy; they make up 90 percent of every army and are suited to routine duties. Anyone who is both clever and lazy is qualified for the highest leadership duties, because he possesses the mental clarity and strength of nerve necessary for difficult decisions. One must beware of anyone who is both stupid and hardworking; he must not be entrusted with any responsibility because he will always only cause damage."

Funny, but actually laziness makes the word go forward. If it weren't for the inherent laziness of our species, we wouldn't have a lot of the inventions we have now.

I´m a lazy fckr, and ain´t rich .. something is off here .. Ohhh .. missed that you must be smart to, dmn.
It most certainly helps, if you aren't dumb as a handful of butterflies, but sometimes it's just instincts, your subconscious rather than deep thinking, which would require to be smart.

I remember this one time, when my not too complicated task was to dip both naked ends of short electrical cabels into a liquid. There were a lot of these cabels, a finite number, but still a lot. At the same time there was no time requirement. When they show the process to me, they dipped one end then the other. Right when it was my turn, i bent the cabel in half and dipped both ends at the same time. I wasn't even realizing that i was doing that, until they pointed out that i just "modernized" the process. lol I wasn't thinking about it for a second, i was just doing it instinctly.

Now dipping cabels into liquid might not make you rich, but i was able to do the task twice as fast, which meant more free time, so i was able to go back being lazy sooner. :) If it were a gig paid by the amount of cabels i completed, i would have earned twice as much as i did, so after all it'd have made me more "rich".

Despite who he is, this is a great quote.

These simple stories is really the foundation of what it is about. Trying to do things in the most efficient way, as fast as possible and finding the best way to optimise your time.

The worst mistake I see entrepreneurs make is trying to do everything by themselves... receipe for disaster.

Just pay professionals to do what has to be done and focus on the things which really help you grow your business.

Automation is probably the best thing that happened for lazy and smart people.

At my previous work, we created content in a massive way... we had also a big list, we tried to keep a good relation with our list. NOBODY ever thought about sending the content created via email, instead, they put themselves in so much headache to always create new content all the time but it was dumb because we created content already on the website, we could simply make an email and send the people to the content created on the site.

So simple, so evident but nobody ever thought about it until I mentioned it because I was lazy to create new content all the time as an email marketing in the team and wanted to reach people faster and better... it's these kinds of things that are changing the whole thing, win time, be lazy, think how you can get the maximum of results in the least amount of time...

When clinging to a quote like this, it's smart to consider the source but more importantly the context of the
remark about lazy.

Anyone who thinks that a man worth more than 100 Billion dollars quantifies the word lazy in the traditional
way is confused. As in most things, Lazy has levels.

The people in close enough proximity to Bill Gates who he refers to as lazy are probably all
Ivy League educated, advanced degree holders, and highly skilled high income earners
with suitably
qualified teams under their command.

That equates to a different level of lazy. This is not a counterpoint to the OPs original
point, it's merely a personal observation.

I would term the type of lazy that Gate's refers to in his quote as Apex lazy. Nuanced.

It's an entirely different class of lazy than sitting around trying to figure out how to push a send
button to make content creation more efficient or anything else that I've read within this thread as
more productive.
-------------------------

When I was in 2nd grade, we had a teacher named Mr. Marvel. Everyone loved his class because
he had a cool system of creating his own money that he gave out in exchange as "Marvel's Money".

His branded money looked a bit like monopoly money, even had his face printed on it. :p

He used to program us with a personal verbal side bar by telling us that his money was as good as
any money in the USA and backed by the same type of PROMISE. [it was seed micro indoctrination
against the Federal Reserve System & Fiat Currency- but we didn't realize it at the time.]

In other words, Marvel's Money was only backed by our Trust in Mr. Marvel and his bank. He told us
that it had legit purchasing power, while allowing redemption from goodies within his class. :suspicious:

The only way to get your share of Marvel's Money was to answer tricky questions correctly whenever
he would ask.

One day, he asked a simple question, of course for Marvel's Money.

Be aware that 3 huge boxes of candy and toys existed all within the classroom, beside Mr. Marvel's
Bank which hovered below a picture of deceased by assassination President JFK.

Optional also were free 10 minute passes to the restroom whenever you wanted to just dismiss
yourself from class.

Or you could redeem your cash whenever you wanted to get a drink of water by the water fountain.
These were basically get out of class free cards that you could buy.

The only class room rule about Marvel's Money, sounded a bit like the Fight Club Rules, come to
think about it!

Don't tell your parents about Roger's Money or the redemption purchase options. :D In other words
what happened in Mr. Marvel's room regarding Marvel's Money, stayed inside of Mr. Marvel's room.

He also had a card that you could buy with Marvel's Money which were good for 5 correct answers
on any classroom TEST. These were the most valuable for the non cavity creeps among the class.

His tricky question for the day?

"What is the solid state of water".

All hands shot up in the air, and our 2nd grade inner chimps emerged with clear evolutionary
rewind with the grunts of ... oohh oohhh oohhh

-First student selected shouted TEXAS.
-Second student selected shouted California! [I kid you not]
-Third student selected shouted out Florida! [I still kid you not]

I didn't even raise my hand because I was shocked at the answers. I even thought that I
had misheard or misunderstood the question after a few wrong or lazy answers.

My classmates were as energetic and serious with their answers as one can be.
I literally sat there in shock and silence. 2nd grade.

After about 7 students butchered the answers. Hands began to lower as US States continued
to be shouted out. Confidence waned. Someone even shouted out MEXICO!
Then ... Alaska.

Mr. Marvel barked out.

"Stop being lazy and think. Be quiet unless I pick YOU Grrrr!"

Yes, he used to growwl!

He was a funny teacher who's lessons stuck!

I sat there quietly and Mr. Marvel pointed to me (I tried to slide down in my chair)
because I guess I had some kind of confused look on my face, plus perhaps he noticed
that I hadn't raised my hand once.

I tried to slide down in my chair behind the curly blond hair in front of me, but it was
too late.

I was not the smartest kid in the class. That award went to the first few students that
Mr. Marvel called on.

Mr. Marvel put me on the spot, looked me in the eye, pointed at me again, then demanded.
"What is the solid state of water"?

My reply... Ice.

I suppose the rest of my class thought I was a lazy genius because when Mr. Marvel walked over
to my desk/chair and handed me $20 bucks of his non gold backed Marvel's Money, the next thing
I heard was a collective classroom. "Whoooooooah".

Then I recall someone saying "wow, it wasn't really a State!" o_O

The world is an interesting place, but nuance and context about lazy and lazy people is everything.
Many have stories like this of some kind, at some level.

This is a good thread @Willyfish

If you're in business and serious about it, it challenges you to think about growth efficiencies a lot.
