BBB accreditation worth it?

My IT consulting business was just approved for accreditation by the Better Business Bureau. They want a $700 annual fee. Is it worth it? I have heard that it is pretty much a scam but I always thought that it was where you went to make sure the business was solid. Anyone accredited? Did you get more business traffic pushed your way?

$700 annual fee!? I wouldn't pay for that, but that's because of my current economic state. Maybe 100k would change my mind.

Hey at least they have a pr of 8/10. Just an expensive backlink and a bbb sticker? lol

I just checked pricing and features of the next town over's chamber of commerece and it's $175.

BBB can still be worth it, but it really depends.
BBB use to have A LOT of credential but lately its been losing it.
As BBB has known to offer companies to buy the bad reviews off.

Don't bother. I've used them and they are pretty much useless for offliners since they don't want you using their logo or linking to their website to show you are +AAA member. Save your money and use it on some Korean hookers.

Korean hookers....lol. My 2c: with all the people throwing up the bbb logos on their sites when they really aren't accredited, it makes that $700 a whole lot harder to swallow.

I'm in the process of getting accredited right now. A good friend of mine who has a site in the EXACT same niche has been accredited for 2 years now. IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT. The SEO value you get is amazing not to mention the other perks and benefits. I've seen it first hand. I was able to pay the annual fee in 2 payments which made it a little easier on the wallet.
