I have seen many people that believe you cannot rank well with a basic setup such as 2022 WordPress or whatever.

I'm aware that speed matters for ranking but I'm curious if anyone has tested how much having something unique matters specifically if using the default WordPress setup 2022-2023 etc is a bad idea for SEO or if it would be the same as using something like generate press / astra / whatever if they were both the same speed.

I'm really hoping to find someone who's actually tested this or had some experience in their own life with it directly.

Thanks so much black hatters

It depends a lot on what you are planing to rank and how you plan to rank such. If you are going to invest a ton of highly curated content targeting medium competition keywords, you are going to do anything in your hand to step a little bit ahead of the competition, including a well made on-page SEO that includes not only content factors, but other technical factors like WPO, a clean high engaging design, etc...

But if you are going to mass develop a ton of different sites, with a ton of shitty content wishing to outrank a million 0 competition long tails, a simple WordPress theme could do the trick.
