Basic SMTP Relay Question

I want to send email to my mailing list using an SMTP.

I plan to use sendgrid.

Which email address should I use?

I have 4 websites set up on hostgator, do I need to set up a separate domain so that I don't get "blacklisted" or will I be ok since I am using an SMTP relay?

Yes, you'll be fine, your sending via sendgrid servers so it will be their ips that are at risk - but obviously if you have high bounce rates then they will probably stop your account before their ips get blacklisted.

Thanks for the response David.

So if I hear you correctly, I can use my normal domain name, and relay it through SendGrid.

How can I avoid high bounce rates?

If it's an opt-in list of yours, you should be ok. Otherwise, another host is best for security. The reason is even people who subscribed a week ago will be so darn stupid they won't remember it and complain to the ISP (your relay) and your host.

you can simply install cpanel trial version in vps and make smtp from there and send emails. I think sendrid will suspend your account if they see bounce and spam complaints.
