Basic SEO Question needs Clear Answer!

Hello all B`Haters!

I have just enteref into the SEO game recently, I was more of a facebook/myspace guy for few years.

I am wondering which one of the following 2 is a good option:

1. Write 1 HQ 700 Words Article - (100% Unique, informative, and written with proper density for my KW), than submit that 1 single article to 50+ article directories + web2.0 sites.

2. Create 1 article, and than spin it to death, and submit the spun versions to all the directories and web2.0 sites?

I just dont feel that I should be blasting the internet with those crappy spun articles. I think quality articles will make my reader convinced to visit the site and buy the product that I am writing about, while a spun article will never do that.

Would love to see what you guys think is the best option to go for?

assuming the original article is put on your money site

Make sure the original article on your site is longer and with images etc. so that google knows that the original one is on your site, and thus will give it better ranking.

You don't submit spun articles for traffic purposes, you do it to increase your search engine rankings my having the spun versions indexed by Google with your backlinks.

otherwise u cn use the HQ article fr the main site n hire someone to write 50 300-400 word articles @$1 a piece n submit them to directories

Here is the thing:
2 days back I sumbitted the same article to around 20 websites, just for experiment purposes!
And now when I am searching google for the title, I get this:

Doesn`t it mean that most of those articles are indexed and giving me a link back? Also my Yahoo links have increased too!

Instead of writing down this BS, you could just answer what you think about the matter!

And yeah, I am working on the site, and thats why I came here 3 days later. And just like any other wise person here, if you dont know the correct answer than you must not reply to a thread.

End of discussion!

Still looking for a clear answer, I am working on my own experiments too, and will come up with right answers soon, hopefully!

yea ull still get the backlinks and all, but you have to realize, why should google think your site is the carrier of the original content and not articlesbase for example?

u dont want to get

a) penalized for duplicate content
b) not ranked the highest for your article (an article directory can get ranked higher than you)

So post up ur article on ur site, spin it, and blast the spun version across the web.

Actually, if you really want to learn a lot about SEO then go check the profile page for ipopbb. Click on the statistics tab and look at the threads started by him. He has many threads with some really useful information. You'll also find in his threads discussions with a lot of other very smart members about SEO. After looking at ipopbb's threads you can go look at those other members profiles to see threads they've started as well.

If he's the creator of the article and he includes a backlink to his original article as a source or citation in the articles he's posting across the web then google *will* see his site as the original source.

a.
A duplicate content penalty is something you get when multiple pages on a single website are duplicating the same content. When Google finds multiple pages across different websites that share the same content it doesn't apply a penalty. What it does is try to determine which is the best source and serve that website up first. Then in an effort to serve varied results to searchers it'll only serve up a few of those sites and leave many of the duplicate sites off the main page. It does that by placing a link under the listing that says something like "view similar results", if someone clicks that then they'll get all those other results. It isn't a penalty for the other sites, it just made a choice on which were most relevant. If that isn't your site then you just have to do a little more work to out-compete the ones it chose.

b.
By that logic it wouldn't matter if you spun the article or not. If the spun article on articlebase has the same keywords then it would show that above the not-spun article on his site. Fortunately there's more to it than that. The articlebase website as a whole might carry a lot more weight, but if he markets his articles correctly then he can definitely see his article as the more relevant result than the articlebase copy.

If you're using scraped content from other sources, and especially if there's a chance the original source might make a complaint to google then it makes a lot of sense to use article spinners. But when it's your own original content it isn't always necessary.

In many situations you're better off not spinning it when you actually are the original author.

The only thing you really need to worry about is Google seeing all your articles as a spam attempt to manipulate the search results. That can actually be just as likely to happen even if your are spinning the articles, (especially if you're over spinning them because then they even look like spam). If you do it right then you shouldn't need to worry about that.

It's very common and acceptable for an original article to be posted on many, many websites. When it's done legitimately the result is actual copies being posted with citations back to the original source. When you're the original source and you're also the one in control of posting the copies then it's pretty easy to do it that way.

well, lucky for me, i always pushed my articles through AMR without spinning them. Lol, i was deciding whether to start spinning them today, but I guess this pretty much answers that question. - and that really does make sense (if all other articles are pointing back to one site, then big G knows where they came from)

For some reason I have always felt like its too bad to submit spun content to article directories, its not good for google, not good for reader and not good for article directories themeselves, we only need backlinks, and that can be done by submitting the same article to those sites.
Though I would try to write unique content for the site and seperate content for article directories. I think it will do the best it can!

If you want to do it in such way as to look the most natural, (which is what Google is usually looking for), then you should post the article on your site first and give it time to get indexed. Then post the same article on some other sites with a citation back to the source article. Then post even more articles discussing the merits of your first article and include excerpts from your first article within the other articles. In each case where you quote the excerpts be sure to include a link as the citation.

Just think of what happens with news stories, movie, music, or game reviews, technical articles, game releases, etc. Look at how the content from the original source is distributed out across the multitudes of other sites discussing it. Then try to duplicate that same type of disbursement.

Don't worry about using the same excerpts either. That typically happens naturally as well. Choose 2 or 3 the best sections to use as excerpts and then use them on the bulk of the other pages. Make it look like other websites are discussing and finding merit in your article and your website. Make it look like there's a buzz going on about your article. Google likes to find the buzz.
