Hey guys, I have been into SEO for a long time and it feels like every year I get asked the same questions over and over on skype... Recently Ive been hit with the "Does ____ work in 2016??" questions... I was Here in my garage thinking and I decided to make a small guide with some basic SEO & KW research knowledge (Tai Lopez voice). I will go In-depth once I get some free time and release a Part 2. But this is just some basic stuff. I want to start off with Keywords because I know most of us start here, we get butterflies in our stomachs once we think we found the golden ticket to the chocolate factory of keywords wealth. Should I focus on head Keywords or Longtail Keywords? I personally focus on Longtail keywords. People who search longtail usually are people who seek a specific solution to a problem. Do not be fooled by Search Volume! Spot the difference: Those 480 people looking for Veterinarians in Chicago are worth way more then 27,100 puppy lovers... Pay attention to both the value of your target audience and search demands/trends!. Understand your Traffics Intentions You want to attract users who will be Active on your site. Active users or buyers tend to search: "Buy books" "Review" "Deals on Lamborghinis" "Coupon" "Cheap Lamborghinis" "Discount" "Affordable rental garages with bookshelves and 2,000 books" "Top 10" (Please excuse my T Lopez jokes, pay attention to the Knowledge!" This is common sense, but we love to overlook small things like this! Passive users who are looking for information about something/a product search: "Why__" "Who__" "What is__" "____Problem" "Learn__" "Fix__" "I need to" "I want to" "___guide/tutorial" I am sure you get the idea! Go ahead and visit https://bubbl.us/mindmap and Brainstorm. Learn from you target audience! + KW Research This is simple. Check out forums about your niche and learn the language/lingo! "Your Keyword+forums" "Your keyword+board" See what Keywords your competition uses too! http://semrush.com Stuck on KW research? Check out http://soovle.com Content is still King in 2016, he won't leave anytime soon! (Like Tai) Content creation can be a pain! If you got the money to invest in good writers, then make sure your content is worth sharing! Make your users want to give back and engage, give them a reason to engage! Most of us don't start off with a high budget, if you got no money for writers then put your thinking cap on! You will have to write! But backontrack... I SUCK at writing Oh yeah? your not alone, most of us do... Use the resources you have: Quora is Great! Of course you should search forums for ideas! Reddit! Use the search function! Advanced Twitter search has done me good a few times! Helpmewrite.co is a cool site... Another one is Whattowrite.org Get creative A very common question: My competitor has NO links!!! How is he ranking? The answer is he/she is Matt Cutts Cousin/relative , in that case your screwed... But that is just a rumor, the truth is that they are part of a PBN! Private Blog Network, so they have links that don't show! A quick word about Backlinks! Pay attention to your competitors Homepage Links (Top 10). Also be sure to take note of your competitors No Follow to Do Follow ratio! Just because your competitor has 100% Do Follow links does not mean you should too! It looks unnaturual! Good luck! Keep the word Authority in mind and ditch the Micro niche stuff.
