I guess I was pushing my luck as I was very aggressive with a new instagram account. How long should one age an account before being able to be agressive with it (as in follow 500+ a day)?

You would be better off buying old accounts if you can get an account from when instagram was in early stages there pretty much bulletproof.

Would this work....get an old insta account and change the username and niche basically? Also, how old do they need to be?

Age an account to 6+ months and you should be good with moderate settings.

You should aim for at least (if not more) half a year to one entire year of aging before you start being aggressive with your methods.

Use an aged account. Doing this again will only get your accounts banned faster.

Try buying aged accounts and use those

I have a few aged accounts (well over 1.5 years each) PM me and I may sell them to you

Those that say half a year to one year, only want to increase the price of the accounts they might have for sale. One month is more than enough, doing 1k+ follows a day this way without troubles.

You have to use an old Instagram account for getting reliable and efficient results on Instagram. The administration never like to ban old and active accounts of their site.

some say they go to your setting 500 after 1 week.
i do it much slower and stay with 300 till 2 month .... then increase the following.

You should take the time to do it right and slowly build up your activity over the next three months.

Can I take my old insta account and change the name and user ID to a niche and then start this without issues?
