Hi
I would like to sell 2 domains to buyer from India.
Problem is that I would like to receive payment via bank transfer India-Europe, but buyer informed me that he have to pay 40% of bank fee/tax for any transfers outside of India.

Question is if this information is real?

Thank you

SWIFT charges a fixed fee for transfers.

Since domains are cheap, U$ 4 is 40% of U$ 10.

Sorry that I did not mention it. Domains (webistes) cost is $2k in total.

So, question is more to people from India, if they really have to pay 40% extra if they paying for invoices coming outside of India via bank transfers?

Sorry that I did not mention it. Domains (webistes) cost is $2k in total.

Then 40% is U$ 800 which is absurd. I don't think he's doing this right, or maybe he's trying to rip you off. Tell them to try Western Union - instant payments...

Edited : Got 40% of 2000 wrong!

40% of bank fee is a big joke...i think he is trying to troll you OP!

I just noticed that 40% of 2000 is 800, not 400 like I had said.

That is simply absurd.

use escrow.com something is not right here this guy is aware that you dont know much about such transaction and is trying to take advantage

Don't sell directly. Use some service like Sedo etc even if they charge too much. He might be ripping you.

Whichever country you are residing, there should be a State Bank of India branch. Just walk into one (or find the branch and telephone it), and give your details. Ask how he can send you the money and how much (fees,e tc) it will cost him to send it. Also ask what forms etc he will have to fill... You will get the correct answers and as soon as possible.

It seems you do not have Paypal account create one so the buyer won't troll you..If your domain really worth than sell them on some marketplace you ll make some nice amount.

It is true that you can't use western union to send money from India. You can only receive. I have received bank wires in India of pretty high amounts with minimal charges. I don't see how sending a bank wire could cost him 40% of the transfer amount. I believe it should be under $100 at the maximum. Looks like he is making excuses.Proceed with caution. Why don't you ask him to pay via paypal or Skrill.

If I may add to this discussion I recently paid a vendor via Moneygram no issues-you could try this as well.

.

In my parts of the world international transfers cost 0.5% - 2%.

40% is b*** sh**

This information is not true, whatsoever.. I would recommend you to get more information on the buyer as 40% fee sounds incorrect.
