Baidu is fucking weird man.
Paid results can appear in organic rankings, for one. To rank there, I hope you've got a big budget or a lot of automated ranking tools. You can spam the shit out of your site in Baidu (because everyone else is) and I hope you're prepared to pay for a lot of high PR/homepage links.
Without a Chinese IP, you're pretty gimped with Baidu and will always be seen as kind of a second class citizen with it. Don't even think about doing PPC in Baidu either, as you'll need a Chinese IP and a Chinese bank account/company holding address to do so.
To the person asking about Japan - you're right, Yahoo is still pretty big there. The thing is though is that Yahoo Japan actually 'leases' the Google algorithm from Google. The algorithm is slightly different, but effectively the same - so if you can rank on one, you can rank on the other and pretty much get exposure across all of the organic searches.
