Bahamas Cruise Next Month

As the title says my family and I are going on our first cruise. I would really like to try out the local foods there.

Can anyone advise me as to what is great to eat on the island? Any other tips would be great as well.

ive been to the bahamas a shit load of times; what island? All caribbean islands tend to sell jerk chicken which is common of jamaica. bahamas is pretty popular for conch salad. You'll see trucks on the side of the road (not if your taking a cruise tho, you'll prob be shuttled in a buss to lucaya). But given you drive around, visit dead mans reef on the other side of the island and try the conch salad, lol - pm me when u get back with pix.

The first restaurant I saw when we got off of the ship in Nassau was Wendy's. LOL - It is next to the popular "Straw Market" and was jam packed with cruise ship people. We ate on the ship before we left to free up our time. There may be local seafood fare, but I honestly didn't see any. You don't have that much time to explore.

Most people go over to Paradise Island and you don't want to miss that. It's really beautiful. There, you will find high end shops and of course the big hotel. Atlantis. You can walk around and watch the gambling.

One couple from the ship rented a motor bike to go exploring out in the boonies. They almost were robbed, so be careful about doing that.

I'm not really a cruise person because I don't like the confinement and herd mentality, but I'm in the minority. Most people love them and you all probably will too. It's mostly all about constant food and drinks. Have a blast!

Thanks guys! The conch sounds good to me as I love seafood. Never tried conch before so I guess I'm in for a treat.

As for Rum I think I'll pass. I'm a Budweiser and Gentleman Jack kinda guy.

Nice! I'm going 4/1 on Carnival. Going to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport. Can't wait never been there. What cruise ship you going on?
