What should someone do if they were fired because of false accusations of violence at their last job and that job is the only reliable/real job on their entire resume and it only lasted a year?

HR firms will know or can find out everything now, especially if someone lies.

Asking for a friend.

There isn't much they can do. If they get called for an interview, then explain things there. Otherwise if dropped in pre selection, there is nothing you can do

But it doesn't matter if they explain in an interview and the interviewer accepts their story because the offsite HR firm is the one who will find out they were fired and deny them based on that alone and the interviewer/company can't overrule HR, correct?

Best bet is to target smaller companies or startups where the person interviewing is the one who decides.
Also freelancing or contracting bypasses all of this completely.

If it was just one year, just omit it from your resume. Make up an excuse of being self employed. Because if the HR calls the previous employer for a background check, you'll be screwed.
