Bad news for domain .com registration

Apparently, the .COM Registry agreement has a proposed amendment submitted to ICANN. This amendment allows for annual price increases on .COM domains.

That is bad news if you have many domains or are planning to have many domains (for redirects, new sites, etc).

The proposed amendment is currently open for public comment. It seems comments will be accepted until February 14th, 2020, and you can comment here:

Please share widely and get others to comment against this. There is not much time left, only a few days.

I'm sure we all don't want price increases. Everything seems to be going up in prices

It affects. Every middle class person who has 3. Com domains and 2$ per domain increasement, it will be 6$ increase.

It's much and bad for domain investors, imagine having 100 domains on your portfolio that you intend to renew. I stand against it.

You're very right. I'm into Domaining. I can relate. I already placed my comment. And it's definitely against the proposed new development.

Just register with Cloudflare.com, they don't take any additional costs.

I once tried to register a hosting and a domain in China, but its not possible, because I had to verify everything I did. This would be bad! Its like they totally know what you are up to.

Right now we are lucky, that we can basically just randomly register .com etc. domains without any real verification. By real verifiication I mean passport number, face recognition, business id number etc.

It shouldnt be a big issue for those with a few domain names. Unless youre on your last dollars. Those with 100+ or 1000+ domains will get hit the hardest though. The simple solution would be to up the prices of the domains they have for sale to cover the expense.

Which is why any decent business owner will use an accountant . You only want a high profit when you want to sell, get a mortgage etc - you pay the legal amount of taxes, not the ethical one

If they don't allow .com domains for sale, that's a bad news. But it's just a price increase. It's not a big deal.

Of course as domain owners we would be against any price increase. But people worried about $6 per year, or "imagine to have 100 domains".. common, this is ridiculous. Go spam forums/comments as a VA and you will make $300 per month for fuck sake.
