I run an e-commerce site and will be using influencers to promote my products (YouTube/blogs/Instagram). It's tricky to track how well they deliver though since Analytics only tell me that the traffic is coming from "YouTube". Therefore I want to use UTM parameters but they look ridiculous and end up creating way too long URLs.
So my idea is to build a custom link shortener and deliver URLs such as sto.re/fdk4ks and then prep the longer URL with my UTM parameters. Not an issue for traffic but all the links I build using this method will be 301 redirects instead of direct links to my products, which gives me cold feet.
Thoughts about it?
If you happen to have a good case study on someone doing a similar thing, it would be amazing. I'm still a bit unsure how to make the most of UTM and set up tracking that will make sense a long time forward.
