Hi, after struggling for months to achieve a good postition in google, i was thinking that my site is on some shared hosting in malaysia, i am sure they had some spam issues in the past as i am unable to send mail to comcast and get the message 'blocked for spam".

So i have checked and my site is on a shared server with 49 other sites, some of them look spammy.

Can this be a reason for google to devalue the importance of a url??

Maybe dedicated hosting would work best instead of shared hosting, regarding google rankings??

let me know if you have any insight on this.

    thx

Yep if you are on the same shared IP as a whole bunch of porn, gambling and Viagra sites then that would be a problem. And would affect your rankings.

I just wonder cause hostgator is recommended all over the board, so one would be in company with all the bhatters here, so then why are they still so popular if that is the truth

how can i find a shared hoster that has only 1-2 sites on a server??

you can use share hosting at US, is better, or you can buy a IP for your site for about extra $1 or $2 a month
