Hi, i would need help, i have created a new website like newsite and redirect 301 oldsite domain name to the one one. Today i looked at one google search result, which is important for me, cause keyword has dropped 2 positions from yesterday and found out that the title looks like "New article" - oldsite name

I was thinking how is it possible that google shows title like this. After that i looked at my page and found out commented link rel="canonical" href="oldsite" some little information text at the bottom. I deleted this and repair the information.

Is this the reason of strange title ? Should i handle canonical URL for search engines ? Also other titles look bad, that's like
"news title" - Articles (there's no mention about articles on that website...strange)

Thanks

Use an SEO plugin such as WordPress SEO or All in One SEO Pack to specify which titles you want Google to display for your pages and posts. That should solve the issue your site is having.

def do get SEO by yoast, and are you masking your 301? as well as when was the last time google indexed that page?

+1 for Yoast plugin. whether did you checked the last cache date. compare the dates. are you facing canonical issues???
PM me your site i will check and let you know..

Google bots automatically place new titles in the search results, It skips our own title and placed the title like "Keyword" | "Domain Name".
Many are complaining this :) But this is not in your case, you're right majky538. This happens due to the URL canonicalization. Not this happens to all - weird stuff by Google bots for only some people.

Some pages titles looks like title | domain name , somewhere there's still title | old domain name , but old domain will expirate in upcoming days, so i will wait for next update, also i started writing better and up to 60 chars length titles especially for search engines.
