Hi,

now after hearing so many positive things about building your own PBN I made the step to start one for myself.

I had built a health related site and bought some expired domains having PRs of 2-3. For every blog I used whois privacy protection, completely unique content, some images, and always a different hoster!

After building the links, I started out with just building links with its url. Two weeks passed and my site hit page 5 for its main keyword.

Then I built another link to a inner page. That one hit page 3 after some time but no improvement for the main site. Then I built another link and after that it hit page 3. Another 2 links and then it stopped. I always used different anchors. After building 2 highly relevant blog comments with a name as a keyword and another blog post on someone's theme related blog it went down to page 8 and stays there for around 3 weeks.

I have no clue what I did wrong.

My site is not in english, but the blog post I got was in english.

Any ideas?

Having a similar experience and curious to see the responses here.
Did your dip happen around may 15th too?

"My site is not in english, but the blog post I got was in english. "

This is it. You will get penalty if you get unnatural links and those are unnatural. Use links from other language only on tier 3+.

You didn't say anything about competition. May be the competition for these KW is too high and you simply need more links. Or may be you left some footprint. Did you link only to your website or you put some links to big authority websites? Also how many pages of content did you put on the PBN websites? What is the quality of the content? There are many things in PBNs that can affect your results.

Two questions:
1- How often did you use a keyword rich anchor text from your PBN
2- Did the drop happen after May 15th (myhomestartup asked the same question)

Legitimate website are getting links from all around the world in every possible language ranging from Arabic to japanese, what you are claiming is absolutely false.

You have most likely been affected by the latest algo update. Just let it ride out for a few more weeks. There is lots of speculation but no concrete information on what this update targeted, albeit not a lot.

It probably had to do with the setup. I see many people making the mistake of completely taking off the original content of the site and forgetting that the site that linked to your PBN did so due to their relevancy and probably removed their links after noticing it. Another reason could be weak domain. There are more trashy domains out there than the worthwhile and differentiating could be a big task for many.

Thanks for all the responses.

Yes the change in rankings happened around mid of may.

Keyword is just a medium comp one. There are just around 3 articles per blog.
I wouldn't really say that only this english post caused this decrease. It happened with just the blog links too. I used the url in different combinations quite often and my url has the keyword in it. But I have noticed another thing. I had built just one youtube link to a website. After that it went down from page 2 to page 3.

It happens, could be the keywords getting more popular or could be a change in the way sites are ranked.

A few questions,

1. Did you block crawlers like AHrefs, Majestic, and Moz ?
2. Are any of your PBN sites deindexed?
3. Ignoring the PR of the PBN domains what is the backlink profile like? Do the domains in your PBN have PR backlinks themselves? Clean anchor profiles as well?

The way you say you bought the domain is very generalized. It sounds like all you have done is checked the PR and gone ahead and bought it. If that is the case you could of just gone ahead and bought low quality domains. When I look for domains my main goal is looking at the site in web archive, checking majestic, opensiteexplorer, ahrefs, domain age, index. Then check the PR, sometimes I don't even care if it does not have high PR if everything else looks good.

hmm i dont think G would have found you unless you've been grassed up. I would check the sites your links come from are still indexed as my first step, i would then test it with a low comp keyword on a different site to see if the PBN is the problem.

The problem is not your PBN, it's one or more of the other link sources.
I'm going with the blog comments as the #1 suspect - they're just so damn toxic now. It's also possible, given Cutts' recent tweet RE guest posting, that they've developed a way (whether good or bad) to try to penalize paid guest posts, and it's possible that you got caught in that web.

No. Its not false. I have made lots of foreign websites and links withing english content worked 2-3 years a go not anymore. You can of course use them as a part, but most (at least 80%) of your links should come from same language.

You are righ when you say that legimate websites gets links from all over the world, but it depends on niche. Let's say you have longtail KW like: how to loose weight fast, but its not in english - it doesnt .ook natural to get links from english weight loose articles and use foreign language as an anchor text. Of course there can be link like "Source in france: NAKED URL."

Just think what looks natural and whats not.

Hi

It looks like your PBN is fine, although 3 posts per blog is somewhat little, what are the domains quality is it different IPs?

I am thinking on starting my own online PBN creation tool including hosting, wordpress sites on different IP's management tools & support.

Cheap and high quality, up to couple of tenth, hundreds and more in each PBN, do you think it will succeed?
