Baclink From High PR Profile Pages - Do They Work?

I am just curious, do high PR profile pages work in getting higher ranking in the serps?

I've built five lenses and over several weeks have made about 50 high pr profile pages backlinks to these lenses and have yet been able to see them in the serps...

I've used fairly non competitive KW's just about under 700 competition in allintitle in quotes. And most of these KWs have an average 800-1200 search per month.

Should I just keep using these high PR profile pages like the ones in Angela's and paul's backlink package or should I try something else?

PS: Does anyone know a good serp rank checker that is reliable and works with long urls like a squidoo lenses...

The theory behind this strategy is that you join a respected site and get a profile page where you place your link (usually just http://, no anchor text). Then you are supposed to make comments on that site which link to your profile page, thereby increasing its link power.

The advantage of this strategy is that it is likely to remain undetected. However, I never use it. There are several reasons:

1) Your profile page will start as PR n/a, meaning it begins as being worthless for link juice.

2) It takes time to link up on-site to your profile page. The efficiency of the link juice transfer will vary from site to site but it will be generally low, as the juice is drained off along all the other links.

3) I just don't think it's an effective method. I come across examples of people trying to do this all the time during my work. Their profile pages are always PR n/a.

My advice - find high PR pages on unmoderated sites. There are plenty of them out there. Then, you'll be able to juice up your lenses properly and see them rise.

I've been doing angelas, steves, pauls, averageguy all backlinking packets. They all work. They definately take time to do, but they are well worth the effort. I have recently done this for a client of mine that was off the charts for his keyword. I plugged away for a week with these packets and he is now at #6

This keeps coming up so I will now make a sustained attempt at this method myself. I'll do this for a week and report my findings. I hope you are correct facebookapps, as I don't want to spend a week doing something for nothing.

I've also had good results using angelas backlinks, however i do understand what you're saying micallef - i mean when i find unmoderated high pr pages you'd best believe i add them to my linkbuilding strategy.

Any tips on finding unmoderated high pr pages?

facebookapps101, for the linkbuilding using high pr profile pages for your client, what criteria is the KW aimed for? for example the competition, intitle and search per month?

And how many of these high pr profile pages that you plugged in for that week?

I've just found out that 4 out of 5 of my lenses are no where to be found when googling the urls...

hopefully it's nothing permanent.

Like I've wrote before, domain authority does carry weight, I've seen it :cool2:, even on a page without PR, a big, established, trusted website is editorially endorsing your website via linking to it, this tell the SE algorithm that your website has good content, or something 'special' about it, and that's according to Google the holy grail of SERPs, good content, multiply this via many websites, and you'll set their trousers on fire. Of course getting links on high PR pages, relevancy and so on are all important, just simply do everything, therefore not creating patterns and increasing your chance of ranking via diversity, something that most people are scared of.

this method is good. I used it with myspace in the past b4 they implemented mysplinks

Personally I do not think this method is effective but I guess we'll see.

I'll join you in this experiment. For the next 2 weeks I'll post links in profile pages for one site(about 10 profiles per day). We'll see what happens.

I have senuke so all of this is automated.

Squidoo lost all the love from google, lenses are difficult to get indexed. After I build a lense I
bookmark it and submit it to rss directories still it takes weeks to get indexed on the other hand if i build a hubpage with just a proper tagging it is indexed in hours and the links from these profile pages will take sometime to be found and indexed by the se's

I did a "profile only" experiment for a client to test the effectiveness of profiles (using SENuke's new feature). The target site is/was PR0, the target keyword is a shorter tail two word phrase with 50M+ competing pages (around 115k+ exact match), keyword was NOT in-domain at all. The client was ranked >200 for their keyword prior to the test, and I progressively did around 30-50 profile links per day for a week or so. The site was in the top 10 (broad match...ie no quotes) within 2 weeks. It's been sticking in the top 10 for a bit, and just recently jumped down to the 40th spot while Google performs it's lovely dance.

In this experiment, profiles undoubtedly worked to push the site into the top 10 and now I'll continue to monitor the movement of the SERP position
