I want to get started with backordering domains to see if I can grab some decent expired domains. I already have a couple of domains that I want to pick up on that have expired last month.

I looked at Godaddy backordering and they say every backorder is taken to auction. I thought that was only the case if more than one person backordered? Bidding on a public auction is not really what I want, rather snatch them up privately after they've expiered. What's a good place to start? Should I consider backordering with more than one registar?

Phoned Godaddy and their backordering system is more like an alert when a dropped domain enters auction. That's not what I want.

Are there any good tools that will ping WHOIS data on domains I submit to actually warn me when they've dropped completely and are available for normal reg?

There will always be another buyers, unless domain is complete fail.Best you can get is a private auction.

The only solution to this is that you can get that domain via auctions:fencing:

try expireddomains and domcop, those are the sites that i'm using to check the expiring domains and expired domains. hope it helps.
