What do you think are the most important metrics when looking at the quality of a website (to get a backlink from)?

Personally, I look at Ahref's DR, Referring Domains (RD), Keywords ranked & Traffic; along with Majestic's TF, CF and Ratio. If I'm selling, I find a lot of people treat the Moz DA as gospel.

I don't use majestic metrics at all not because they're not good but because I don't use them. Primarily use ahrefs and it's been reliable. The data provided by ahrefs has been all I use to work.

Watch out for top keywords in similar web and make sure these keywords are not movie download keyword.

That is good enough for a basic link

I still rely on RD, TF and CF and their corresponding ratio to each other. TF is the hardest to manipulate.

also, i care about the site having real traffic or not.

You should check RDs/number of links, quality of the top links/domains, website traffic & the difficulty of the top-ranking keywords of the website,
You should make a quick check for the content & the on-page of the website itself and basically have an idea of how good is the website based on all of these informations

DA, Traffic and Spam Score.

I was also looking at Spam scores until like a year ago when I created a new site that still to this day has 1 hand-written article [test site], guess what?

My only explanation why it has 11% SS is because it's about damn IM!

There is no other logical explanation, even this is BS but, I don't see anything else.

After that, I've done small research and seen a ton of great, old domain that ranks well, almost huge as Backlinko with 33% SS like wtf.

SS up to 30% - 40% is ok...

Depends on the sites importance everyone looking for.
Some focuses DA and some others focuses ahref's metrics.
It all depends.

Not sure I understand that one. Metrics are measurements, so surely it's nothing to do with how high or low somebody is looking for?

Whether they want DR10 or DR50, it's still DR.

I look into DA, traffic, and niche relevance.

DA, DR, RD, TF metrics can be manipulated

So if you are looking for guest post sites, give importance to the organic traffic
or
If you are looking for PBN then check the root domains for the respective site

a clean website, with real articles, keywords in my niche and traffic

Mostly Focus on Ahref DR, Organic traffic, Spam score and ranking keywords.
But for PBN, Base of the metrics like TF, DA, DR is important.
