[backlinks] what is safe % keyword density?

About keyword density, at what % should i keep my money keywords so i don't get hit by the next penguin? My main keywords were about 8% and 9% and i got wiped out of serps even know i only built quality links.

You may have built too many links then. If you build more links than you have traffic it won't matter how low your density or links are. What makes you think it's a density issue?

The guys at NoHatDigital advise to proceed on the side of caution and keep exact match anchor text at 1%.

I try to not repeat any anchor text unless it is branded. No need to.

"how to make cash on the world wide web"

These all tell Google the same thing. Extrapolate this across your PBN, using LSI, long tail, and partial match, and you have some kick ass link juice without tripping up any anchor text filters. NO need to repeat anchor text any more.

Couldnt agree more. Need to realize how unnatural it looks if a site is getting tons of links, with no traffic, no social media signals, etc. Play it smart.

The exact match links, I usually don't have more than 1%. But when combined with all the partial match I've usually been doing around 15% safely.

Sites I'm building at the moment though, I'm dropping that down to 10% just to be on the safe side for future updates. Google is probably going to keep on refining its filters for over optimization, so I want to be on the safe side.

I do believe that the % you can get away with does vary for different search terms though.

I would say you should be safe while you keep it below 2%.

You should be writing content to make a valuable article, not writing an article to have certain keywords in it a certain number of times.
Write good content and don't worry about keyword density. In my 15+ years doing SEO I've never once told a writer to make sure xxxx is in the article y amount of times.
