I've came across a good keyword after some research with Market Samurai, looked at the SEO competition but it's so clear for me.

Say you have spot 10 in google in which someone is ranking and their page has
- PR 0
- BLP 0 (backlinks to page)
- BLD 6953 (backlinks to domain)

Should i have a hard time taking over their spot or is it fairly easy?

I don't know how much the BLD plays a role here.

What about the index count? The number of indexed pages on the domain.

Does this play a role into competing for the keyword?

I agree, it should be easy. The number of backlinks doesn't say everything, with DFB you can easily create thousands of backlinks, very low quality though. with 30 hq backlinks like web 2.0 properties for example you can easily get to the first page.

yes if you go with a domain dedicated to this keyword it will be very easy to outranked them.

If it's just an internal page that you want to rank on a new domain it will be a little more difficult.

But better you aim the top 5... the 10th position will not bring you enought for your work

It's better to aim for the 10th position first. After seeing how easy/hard it was to outrank them, they'll have an easier time determining the difficulty of outranking the other websites ahead of the 10th position.

Just keep going and you'll soon see for yourself. Just build backlinks to your page and just make sure you mix it up!

start slowly with a few links to the new page than blast it. Or blast it all at once if your not getting every link indexed right away
