    So in wordpress general settings it says
    WordPress Address (URL)
    Site Address (URL)
    without / but when i go in my browser and copy paste the link of the website i have mywebsite.com/

    so should i backlink to mywebsite.com/ ?

    You should 301 redirect non www to www, so google doesn't see it as duplicate content. No idea about wordpress, I hate wordpress.

    I have used both variations and haven't seen any difference in ranking, but i think http://mywebsite.com/ looks better.

    By default use without www, but get some links pointing to www as well. Redirect 301 www to non www.

    I don't think the trailing / matters at all from an SEO perspective.. it's true that omitting it looks more natural, but I dout it has an actual effect on ranks.. the www thing sure, but not the /.

    i would suggest check in google to see version of your website is indexed,with or without www,based on that either change it or leave it
