I have been doing some research about 301 redirects and was curious to know if backlinks to the redirected domain count to the domain it is I pointing to.

    So,

if I have 20 backlinks on abc.com and I decide to direct it to xyz.com will those backlinks count for xyz.com ?

    Tristangemus,

In my experience, the backlinks still pass on link authority but much less than if they were connected directly to the original domain. They do count toward the new domain as long as long as you have done a permanent redirect correctly. Your main benefit is going to be sustaining traffic and not PR.

Perhaps you can find more answers in this thread,

    Hope that helps,

I've heard people say that about 90% of the link juice passes through a standard 301 redirect. So obviously direct links are better, but yes links to 301 pages still increase your sites' SERP rank.

The majority of the link juice passes. It's perfectly fine in most situations.

Yes, they count, but not in 100%. I can't estimate how much is it. How do you guys know it's 90% ;).
