Okay so with yahoo site explorer I get some 60 backlinks, backlinkwatch also shows those 60.

When I go to google.com for the same page is says it doesn't find any results (link:domain.com )

Can anyone help me since it's the first time it's happening?

Google is slow with adding links

This is incorrect. Google usually add links within minutes (if they come from an active site) but they hide most of their index. This is why you are recommended to not use Google for checking backlinks.

Google links shouldn't be relied upon. I think they purposely limit it's functionality so people don't just copy what their competitions doing.

But the good news is that Yahoo's works a lot better. And chances are if Yahoo picked up on it, then Google has picked up on it and then some.

Example. Look up the PR of http://toothsurgery.info. It has a 2. But try the Google link search and it says it doesn't have one single link.

Yet if you lookup http://tomosmopeds.org, you'll see Google has a whopping 1 link listed for it, but it has PR0.

See where I'm getting at?

g00gle home page only has 2300 links on g00gle so i wouldnt worry to much about that

Yes, Google never shows all links. I would not worry about it, but, use Bing or Yahoo to see your link growth.

If you want a FREE, good link tracking program for Windows, PM me for the link.

Nope. I think you all are wrong. From my experience. Yahoo shows all the index links that it can find. In order for google to count as back link, the link from that page should be PR4 and above. If you do not believe me, if you website has more than 0 back links, check out the PR of those pages. It should be PR 4 and above.

Sorry wrong answer. Google is on record (via Matt Cutts and others) as saying that the links that do show up when you do a Google link: search are completely random.

They do this for two reasons. First to keep people in the dark as to exactly how much weight they give all the different links and second to keep your competition from seeing exactly what links you have. If you add your site to Google's webmaster tools you will see a lot more links but still not all the ones that are indexed.

Not showing any backlins in google for my site my SE ranking are increasing day by day so no worries about it.

Google is very slow catch back link where as Yahoo is ery fast. And Google only catch Quality link where as yahoo count all type of link

Thanks guys, this has cleared some things. Anyway I am using backlinkwatch.com and yahoo site explorer. Gonna try webmasters tools and get back to ya

The total number of pages that contain links to:
domain www . domain
0 Google: 0
52,473 Yahoo: 49,519
738 AltaVista: 13,600
721 AllTheWeb: 7,100

My links are all over the place. Google doesn't show any. You would think Google would be similiar to Yahoo.

yahoo bots searched the sites... but google ones didnt yet?

first of all google wont show links it thinks are not highly important mostly no-follow. since google is the only search engine that reads nofollow tags. yahoo and bing ignore nofollow tags..

second, even though google indexes links real quick, the data they show is outdated, they only update that every now and then, just like PR.

thirdly, google for some reason wont even show all links it thinks are important., and just show a part of the links it found..
why i don`t know, but they probably have their reasons..

It's useless checking on Google for your links simply because they hide them.

Yahoo doesn't pick up all links either, for the simple reason that their index is smaller than Google's, especially since Caffeine.

There is no absolute way to find out what links you have.

If you are building your links yourself, you can make a note of the urls in a spreadsheet, and then check if Google has indexed them. If it's indexed, they will have found your link.

The other way to check is to use Open Site Explorer (Google it). It's by SEOmoz, and it's drawback is that they only crawl the web once a month (as they simply don't have the resources to do it all). But they do find links that Yahoo has missed. When you find these, make a note of their urls, and then bookmark them to make them "stick".

same thing happened fkor me..so don't worry about big G
