Backlinks question

How long does a backllink take to shows in your stat?

The reason I 'm asking is that I dropped few baclinks for my new site in some do-follow sites. But when I check my site backlinks using: It shows nothing.

If you're using Google to check your backlinks it could be weeks/months/never before you see them.. If you're using Yahoo site explorer up to two weeks isnt unusual but if its a weel crawled site its usually within a day or two.

what exactly is a weel crawled site?

google won't ever show you the true picture regarding your backlinks.

you'll have to look across several search engines to see a better view.

and regarding donjuan's post, I think its a typo and 'weel' was meant to say 'well'. A well crawled site means that the spiders crawl your site very regularly.

Squelsh meant to use the word "well" as in "A well crawled site"

Use Yahoo for displaying your backlinks..

Linkdomain:www.example.com should do the job.

or it could be Wheel Crawled site....which mean backlink has been done by howie method of wheel linking from web 2.0 sites to main site.

best thing nowadays is the yahoo site explorer, free and halfway reliable

I do normally use yahoo explorer (which hasn't indexed my site yet despite me submitting my site to them two weeks ago!). However, yahoo explorer shows some backlinks, while bigG shows none.

Another thing that is worrying me is that my homepage have a pr 0 while all other pages are "unranked".

Anyone can shed some light on this?

Well in two weeks you are unlikely to get PR. You need to keep adding backlinks.

Yahoo is the way to go - the big G will never show you how many and what sites you get backlinks from. And I understand why - I would write a tool to analyze competitors etc.

If you submit your backlink (or new page URL from your site/blog) to digg dot com, it will appear in the BigG within 24 hours or so. But, it still may not appear when you use the link command. But, if you sign up for BigG webmaster tools here:

and then create an sitemap from here:

hxxp://code.google.com/p/googlesitemapgenerator/

then upload your site's G sitemap to your root. Then log in to your webmasters account and submit your sitemap and verify your site (they will tell you how to do this) Then, very soon after that BigG will crawl your site and give you more statistics on how people are finding your site in the BigG matrix and also show you more backlinks, search phrase queries, top search queries, anchor texts of the backlinks that the Googlebot sees, content analysis (i.e. duplicate title tags, duplicate meta tags etc.) and more. But, even if you sign up for a webmasters account, I don't think that they show you all of your site's backlinks. However, they do show you MUCH MORE than just by using the link command. Check it out!

yahoo shows backlinks in 1-2 days so it is much better to try google instead of google

Moreover you must build a sitemap so that you can get your site indexed by search engines and then things would be much easier
