Firstly I'm not talking about this forum :p But say if I was on a targeted forum for my niche, what is better?

Assuming I had 100 posts, that's 100 backlinks to my website via signature. I'm assuming these wouldn't really be "quality" links. Is that bad just to have a ton of links going from one site to another? I heard that it's not even required to use Forum Signatures, and that you can instead just throw your website URL into your profile, and each post you do already links back to your profile, which in turn links to your website.

I'm just wondering how that works. Is there any difference to having 100 sig links compared to having 1 link in your profile page? I'm assuming the profile link would be more "quality" because it has so many links going to it. But could anyone clarify this for me and how that all works/compares?

Just think about it, why we all build backlinks? Yes exactly for better rank in our niche and our main focus is to get rank is TRAFFIC.
So if you can get quality and targeted traffic via forum signature that really does convert then I think it is far better than useless hits.

One thing more, don't just rely on Google like its a saying don't put all the eggs in one basket.

Yes, but let the forum be related to your niche.,.. Don't want a link from Health Forum linking to a casino website, would certainly look Spam

Hah, link juice isn't some linear function that you can just add up. It's a bit more complex than that. There's no official conversion or simplicity.

When you have 100 posts all linking to your profile page, that profile link will be much more powerful than signature links. Add some second tier links to your profile to strengthen that link if you want to increase it's impact.

Links inside post content are the most powerful imho.

They are fine, every time I put out a blog I rank on first page nearly every time but I have low competition keywords, but surpassing many competitors and some big brands, I have at least 300 total signature links, I don't use it for seo though I believe they are all nofollow, they will not harm your site.

People have been using many softwares for forum backlinks and profile links are too common since Angela and Paul's links were overused.

Both of these strategies have less link juice, If you really wanna work on the backlinks part, I suggest having web 2.0's in your Tier 1 and then get backlinks to the Tier 1 links.

    Hello :)

I personally steer clear of forum posts for my tier 1 links when I use GSA.

-Some forum profiles post two links and you'll only benefit from the one higher up the page. From experience, this has typically been a URL to my money site and not targeted anchor text.
-Posts drop off page one of the forum eventually (less authority IMO, but I can't say that for certain)
-My projects have typically done better when I push quality submission engines for tier 1 (I made a point of excluding forums to test this and the site performed significantly better than a previous site which used forums for tier 1)

I'm starting to ramble...so to answer your original concern: posting the same link 100 times on a forum vs. 1 profile link (depending on whether or not you can get that profile URL targeted with your niches anchor text) will bear no fruit. You can of course, test this out yourself, however I would urge you to avoid forums for tier 1 entirely; they've worked out OK for me when I'm building tier 2s, but ultimately I've stuck with articles and try to keep my project metrics good (High d/follow, 85% + targeted anchor text, quality submission engines) etc.

    Hope this helped!

    :)
