Hi,

I have a question regarding to backlinks.
I have a site which is completely written in dutch and it has a dutch domain. Now I want to use some services from the marketplace here on bhw.
But most of the services build backlinks on sites that are written in english.

Will it still help my site with ranking if I use a service which provides english written content with a link to my site in it? Or should I stick to sites with the same language as my own site for building backlinks?

Thanks

Same question here! Nice question :) I think this is interesting for a lot of people here at BHW!

Getting links from relevant content is better than no links. Links will help you to increase your domain authority which means the power of ranking the inner page of your domain will increase. So you are getting some SEO value. On the other hand, if your competitions are not strong, links from English content will surely help to get rank. You know it all depends on competition.

Bump, I have the same question as the op and would like to know if the 'gurus' can answer this.

You can use keywords in your target language and content that you are targeting.

I think a different niche will give a different impact on your sales

first manually signup to some dutch social site, make some dutch article and point back to your money site (tier one backlink)

then buy backlink from the marketplace to point to the tier one articles

Well, in the ideal world it would be better that all your backlinks are from Dutch websites (if you are targeting only Dutch audience). But taking into account that we are living in the real world it is good to have a mixture of backlinks both ******** and nofollow, from the relevant websites that are having content in English as well. This may not boost your rankings but it will bring traffic to your website. Just make sure that the majority of your links come from relevant Dutch websites. As soon as that's the case, you're save with a mix of other links.

I have backlinks in the opposite direction. I have an English site, and I have backlinks from Dutch, Swedish, Italian etc "related" sites. I think it won't harm, and actually they're good, especially if they are from related websites.
But be careful and leave no footprints.

I think if you get a google penalty, it won't be because of having backlinks from websites with different languages. It will be because of you bought them from untrustworthy service, and left footprints.

But if your all backlinks (or majority of them) are from English sites, I think it's not good. Diversity is a key here.

I just recommended to same language backlinks is the best one . if you choose English content to try to make Keywords in your language

can you have the content translated, or would that be cost inefficient?

I have seen many many sites in English with back links from Japan and all sorts of other places.

Here is my experience. We started a website (wordpress template). Anyone who has installed the template had a link on the front page to our website. In one year we had about 800 active backlinks from website all over the world. Some people removed the link and some just left it because we were asking them not to remove it if they appreciate what we are doing. So in 1 year our website got on top for many high competition keywords. We offer web design, seo, etc and the websites that installed our template were not related at all.
Actually its a great idea to get cheap backlinks from all over the world - give people free templates. We used to do it for VB, Joomla, Wordpress users and it works just great for our niche.

Another example. I was thinking about buying cheap links from russian websites to one of my health related blogs. But I didn't want to get problems with google. So I posted a links to my Blog from my PBN websites and just bought cheap links to PBN pages that were linked to my blog. It worked just great!

You can create new threads, and reference this one from within the new thread, instead of bumpinga 3-year old discussion.

To answer your question: be creative. Are you sure there isn't a way the links to your site can come in your language even if the content is in English?
