I have hundreds of thousands of posts to forums linking to my websites, despite pinging thousands and thousands of these forums posts, only a handful are showing up in the search engines.

What I dont understand is this:
If I do a search on Yahoo for my domain +forums I get currently 1'240 results showing up using this search in Yahoo.co.uk
    Code:
    "get-listed-in-google.co.uk" + Forums
However if I do a link:check on the website I am only showing about 376 backlinks!

So why although they are clearly spidered and indexed in both Google and Yahoo do these forum posts not get registered as backlinks in either backlinkwatch.com or Yahoo.com ?

What do you need to do in order to get them to count as backlinks? Ive been pinging for about 4 or 5 days solid to get these posts indexed.

To use the example of one of the guys who provides this service, and plugs his own service heavily in forums posts:

A domain plus forum search in 'yahoo brings up 102'000 forum posts linking to his website
    Code:
    "Demya.com" + forums
However a link:domain search shows that this website only has 8'720 backlinks
    Code:
    link:www.demya.com
Why is this, what makes a post on one forum count as a backlink when a post on another forum doesnt count?

    Can anyone explain this please?

As per my experience, yahoo and altavista are better in showing up backlink results. Most of the times big G shows 0 while others show many backlinks. The reason being the way of indexing and their own policies of indexing. Hope this helps.

If you read the post carefully , you se that im talking about links showing up in either yahoo.com or Backlinkwatch.com

Yahoo.com shows way more entires in their index than the recognise as links, I am wondering why?

I know that some links will be worth less than others, but they should still count as links shouldnt they...

Well, I know that backlinks are backlinks, but how the search engine views the links differ from SE to SE. You know, Big G algorithm of dealing with backlink is very very network related. It takes only quality links as per its own algorithm, whereas others do not think it to be the Big G Way. Secondly, you have posted to many but how many of them are ******** is again in question. How many of them have the proper anchor text, i.e the keyword for which you want to rank in google, is the most important thing. Big G not only analyze your backlink but backlinks of backlinks also is to be noted, and from this they decide how important your backlink is. So merely running automated scripts for posting won't help. Hope this helps. There is the administrator of individual websites also sitting in between you and your backlinks. :)

What im refering to is if you have thousands and thousands of posts on forums each with links to your website.

By seaching for your url in Yahoo, you see just over a thousand pages with links to your website.

You then open www . Backlinkwatch . com and search for the links to your website, (or you check Yahoo.com for links to your website) and find that although the search engine is aware of these links and shows the pages in its index, Yahoo & backlinkwatch.com only show your website as have a few hundred links.

So the pages linking to you are listed in the serps, but not counting as links!
    Why?

    Well done, thats right.
And as The service that Demya.com offers is posts on forums using Xrumer, it is logical that they would have a lot of posts on forums. So checking the number if posts that Google and the other search engine know about that are on forums and link to Demya.com and then comparing that with the number of backlinks that Yahoo openly admits to Demya.com posessing and doing the same check on Backlinkwatch.com you see that only a tiny fraction of the links are counted as links.

    The question is why...?
