Well, this is a weird experience. After trying to rank for a site for 2 weeks with backlinking (quality high pr links and some articles) I only saw my site drop and drop in serps. I decided to put some new content so I added an article. Magicly my site went from 50 to 20 in one day and is on top 5 on many non US google engines.

BTW I used social bookmarking, blog comments and articles, no luck.

If the website is new, it can take time for it to rank. It doesn't take 2 hours to get to #1 for certain keywords.

How is your onpage SEO?

I am sure it was just google dance + coincidence in some backlinks only being indexed after the new article.

Onpage seo I guess is ok, Tried to cover all the basic.

Like the above poster said, it could of been a coincidence. Make sure you are getting your links crawled and submitting he RSS feeds. Otherwise, they will be pointless If Google can not find them.

It's a def a combo. I see my rankings increase each time I post a new article - but link building is still head honcho for serps.

i was ranking #! for ages for a exact word that has 18,000 searches a month with only 3 backlinks. the #2 spot competitor has thousands and thousands of backlinks. i did a practice xrumer and senukex test on the site and it wont even show up on serp rankings anymore. i know stuiped to do but like i said it was a test i wanted to try.
also was ranking #! for a word (different site) then i added content to the site once and it no longer appears in serp rankings.

sounds like it was doing the dance, also its better to rank a aged domain 1year or older, and when it drops like this, usualy it rank better and stronger after a few weeks.... backlinks is important and if u add articles it helps even more.

If backlinks your A$$ then iwant buy it lolZ.............Bro it takes time to rank !!!

You learned a good lesson: useful content is the best SEO strategy.

Use social bookmarking accounts for indexing your site in google and backlink your website to high PR sites........:)

Seems like google is dancing over your website. What i suggest you is to use article marketing to get better and relative backlinks to your website.

Have a great day

Two weeks is nothing in terms of Google time. I agree that most likely content plus the backlinks kicked in at the same time.
