Backlinks in WP theme

Has anyone put backlinks in the footer of a WP theme or other 2.0 site theme? Has it worked for you?

Yes - it works but isn't as effective as it once was.

If you utilize Wordpress links, mixed with normal linkbuilding it can be very effective. Don't simply rely on Wordpress links to rank though.

Thanks, I won't be. I've been manually backlinking on df blogs and doing web 2.0 blasts. I guess I'm just looking for new things to do to get some of my sites from second page to first page

No doubt - Wordpress links on solid themes can get you some great PR and linkjuice. I've had PR5's without much work as a result of distributing well designed themes.

Is there any different between "within article backlink" and "footer backlink" ? Like if i make some website and put my link "web designed by keyword" Or it will be better to post link within article ?

I may be wrong, but I think within article is better than footer. Footer backlinks don't hold as much weight anymore
