backlinks in side menu

Hello How is it going
I own two websites in a different hosting company and the domain data is private
Can I put the link of the first site in the side menu in the second site only the name of the website and not the keyword
Is this useful or not and can Google punish me?

Blog rolls no longer work. Some networks link their sites in the footer.

yes, no problem in such case,
it would work and give some decent boost depending on the website,
keep it simple, nothing to worry about for real

Google will not punish for that, yes adding your 1st site URL in 2nd site side menu will be useful if you make that it as looks natural

The effectiveness is basically order of user clicks. The users tend to click links in content the most, and then some may notice links in sidebar, but most people don't scroll down to check what's in the footer. SEO gurus usually make a theory out of it

We can post links in header to get more traffic and value. I have seen some sites get high SERP rankings with this method. But, I don't know if it still works. Google won't penalize if you disclose ownership of both sites in "About Us" page.

It depends relevance on your both site. Google will check the links which are relevent ot the site, If it looks necessary to all visitors, Those Links are seen as valuable and won't hurt the seo. Because sidebar are sensitive one.
