Backlinks from universities websites

Hi, does anyone created backlinks from big universities websites like columbia universities etc?

There are plenty of services here that claim to provide .edu backlinks at a reasonable price, however, you have to use the search function

They are coveted as educational domains have a lot of age and trust in the search rankings. Generally they do not link out to just anybody so the quality of the link is generally really high.

I am not so sure about the effectiveness of edu profile links however.

I was looking through a competitors' backlinks and found several .edu scholarship pages. Some of them listed sponsers with really spammy names like "Buy Payday Loans - Scholarship". None were Columbia or Ivy league caliber.

I have no idea if these sites who get on there actually pay out these $1000 scholarships that they claim to. I wonder if they can get in trouble for fraud. I also don't know if links from these pages have any power, since there are so many OBLs on them.

There are probably some other workarounds to get an edu link. Here's a loophole someone found, that doesn't work anymore because he put it on youtube. But maybe it will inspire you to get creative and experiment yourself.

Well you can get such backlinks, money can buy everything. So long as something is known to a select few, it would work like a charm. As soon as it popular, the viagra and payday loans guys would start abusing and Google would devalue.

There are 3 popular ways to get links from EDU and GOV sites:

1. Blog Comments
2. Web 2.0
3. Forum Spam

IMO all of them can lead to a penalty (sooner or later).
There are also other methods to get legitimate EDU and GOV links but is much harder to do it.
