Backlinks from profile pages from vbulletin forums ...

I had left running a tool ovenight and it created Tonnes of profile pages in vbulletin forums.

When i inspected the output links i noticed that i have to login to see the profile page and my link in it.

I highly doubt that his vill be useful for backlinks...

Anyone know if profile pages from vbulletin forums is useful or not?

I generally skip building profiles on those forums where I have to be logged into see a user profile (I'm doing it manually). I suppose if they allow links in your signature, you could leverage get your link that way, but I don't know how any spider could see those profiles if humans can't either.

I have seen people mention there is a way, but they didn't elaborate, so I'm in the same boat...wondering.

i am particularly wondering about vbulletin forums only....

I tried phpbb forums and it works out great...Can anyone with vbulletin experiece clarify?

I'm pretty sure that some vbulletin forums don't require logins to view profiles... I usually use phpbb though too

The key to forum posting per se is the initial identification of the forum. Non publicly viewable profiles do not provide the desired outcome i.e. backlinks for the already mentioned reasons. The way around this is to search for the forum using user profiles and not the root domains of the platform. There are many footprints to do this for example;

Expressions Engine is "inurl:/member/ "View all posts by this member""

myBB it would be ""Registration Date:" "Time Spent Online:" intitle:"profile of"

I personally do not touch VB given they are notoriously difficult to retain and there are many other juicy platforms out there to target. So, focus your harvesting methods upon publicly viewable profiles meaning when you drop your link you will know that the engines will index it and credit you for the link.

It happens with a lot of different platforms not just VB and not all VB site are like that, there are plenty out there that do have visible profiles. Culling out the sites that do not work properly is just part of link building.

You run though a list and then filter out the ones that do not meet you needs, scrape some more sites and do that same thing. Eventually you will have a good list to work with but it really is a never ending process as some site may be good today but not tomorrow.
