There are many different approach to build backlinks into your website like blog commenting... but unfortunately those links will be nofollow!
instead you can build quality links that everyone really need to see his website rising.
Social Bookmark Submissions : Just search about High PR (Page Rank) social bookmarking sites, you might find many already shared in the internet like stumbleupon, Diigo and scoop.it... if you want to submit your page link; each site contain an add your link or submit news, submit your story option. you have to add the links you wish to bookmark, then after give appropriate title, tags and descption. at the first time, book mark the homepage, after then go for the sub pages. Remember always create unique content for bookmarks! and that's it!
Web Directory Submissions : outdated method, but still work and may get link from.
Buy/Trade Links : All you want to do, is buying links from other website owners related to your niche.
Web 2.0 Sites : you might create a free account on some websites like wordpress, Trumblr or blogspot..., then plan a free blog and inject some few unique posts -of course- related to your niche and inside those posts put links back to your web pages.
PBN (Provate Blog Network) : buy some aged expired domains with some authority with them (thats the strong point with expired domain, they already have authority from the past), then after, setup a new website with an unique content and again put your website links into those posts/articles to get extra traffic to your website.
Also there is another good way to find good quality backlinks, is in the search results! what you have to do, is searching for some keyword on your niche, then for the top 10 links try to find oppurtunities they provide you to put some good quality backlink : signature, comments or whatever.
If you are able to make this, it will do sevral good things for you;
First of all those URL are authorities for this keyword, because they rank for top 10 results.
also you expose your back link to all the traffic that those URL receive.
by spamming randomly websites you'll never find trageted trafic which can convert well.
